First of all, I want the Haye-Waldo fight to happen as I think it could bring back some excitement to the division. I give Haye little chance to pull the big upset off as he is totally untested at heavyweight. It is hard to keep any faith in Haye right now. He could have fought the likes of Toney or Rahman in his first bout but he elected to face a total bum in Barett. Then, very surprisingly he founds himself in negotiations with a much tougher opponent than Toney or Rahman in Waldo. Yet, now again the fight does not seem to come off. It should be reminded that Waldo was to this date never a really difficult partner to negotiate with. It is also clear that Haye has to concede considerably more during the negotiations, yet he does not seem to be willing to do that. Remember, Waldo is the champ and Haye is not. Haye has not beaten anyone in the heavyweight divisions so he should be lucky to get a shot. Haye is not a HOF and has not a great resume outside the heavyweight division. He is no Holyfield and even Holyfield had to work his way up to a title shot. They are negotiating since weeks now. Man, this not Tyson-Holyfield. If Haye does not want the fight then let's make Areola-Waldo. Meanwhile Areola is rumored to face a known on HBO on the undercard of Williams-Wright in April (HBO brought also Toney's name up).
Not more than you are. Boxing is a business, mate. Negotiations can be tough at this level. The fight will happen because there's money in it. Don't be naive.
I am realistic and not naive. According to the most recent report the talks were suspended. Like I said this ain't Tyson - Holyfield and it should not take months to get this fight done, this is just not normal. I am actually starting to doubt the willingness of the Haye camp to make the fight. I saw the same strategy for Haye's first fight.
He obviously has not the right to demand a bigger purse. He not the champ and has beaten no one in the heavyweight division. He should be just lucky to get thois fight because he did not earn it. In addition he is not known outside the UK.
Wlad vs.Toney would be a great fight in the US.:good Arreola or Toney, both would be good replacements for Haye.
No...Haye just knows his worth on the market and doesn't allow himself to be taken for a ride. He needs the Klitschkos more than they need him, but they need him too...because there's only him and to a much lesser extent, Povetkin, that provide any real excitement in the division.
That would be a slaughter. Im almost positive Toney would get knocked out. He wouldnt be colse to competetive, I hope that fight doesnt happen
No, actually HBO wants to make the Waldo-Areola fight if Waldo-Haye does not come off. HBO offered to make the Areola - Toney fight as a TV opener on 11th April for Wright-Williams. For some reason Goossen does not really want to make that fight and he stated a poor excuse like "Arreola-Toney should not be a TV opener as there is a lot more money to make". Personally, I think that Goossen hopes to make the Areola - Waldo. IMO, he should make Toney - Areola as an eliminator, but he seem to doing the same thing as with Toney-Thompson. But I am still hoping, nothing has been decided yet.
Hell Wlad would be well within his rights to say the hell with you we are fighting in Germany and yo uget no TV rights and he could make a hell of alot more money that way as it stands wlad going to england as the champ to fight an english fighter he should get most of the tv rights and Haye should be happy with whatever share he gets
Bring Toney vs. Wladimir on. :happy Toney should take one tune up to keep in shape, if he gets this match in summer thought.
I hope Wlad will fight Arreola. Than Haye will lose his credibility when he choose his next opponent :yep:yep:yep:yep
