Haye was not the undisputed Cruiser-Champ. He had the WBO/WBC/WBA Title. But he did not unify the IBF.
Again, Wlad's camp has a reputation of being a fair partner during negotiations. Wlad does not need Haye right now. If Haye does not accept the condition, he will probably like the other guy here said have to wait for another 2 years, end of story. Being cruiserweight champ does not give you any special rights. Holyfield and Toney worked their way up to a title shot. Spinks was different but he was the long time lightheavyweght champ and already an ATG.
You want to talk about bums? Haye's best win at Heavyweight is Barrett who was beat by Couser in 2 and had ALREADY been destroyed by Wlad 8 years ago. Haye handpicked Barrett and then tried to tell us how he was dangerous etc. What Haye did at Cruiserweight means NOTHING. Just because you are Cruiserweight champ that does not mean you get an automatic shot at the heavyweight title(s). It does not work that way.
I'm not saying it does but respect is due, he's exciting which is extremely lacking in the division. The last two fights with the K twins have been poor.Valuev is a disgrace. Rahman was a disgrace The Slug Bros are rubbish Peter and O'rio (cookie) la
I think you want to see Waldi-Haye just as much as I am, or everyone else here, am I right? So why are you defending Haye then for being reluctant taking the fight now? I guess in the eyes of his fans David Haye can do no wrong, no matter how disappointing it is. Just like when he fought a past his best Monte Barrett as the much heralded beginning of his HW division take-over... (ok, it was his 2nd fight at HW, but that makes it look even worse.) And stop that bull**** about Haye having to sell his soul etc. for this fight... He gets his shot at 2 belts without being a mandatory for any of them, and he's done nothing at HW to deserve it (to be fair the other HWs don't deserve a shot either); Waldi is even ready to have the fight staged in London - what does Haye want more? It's exactly what he has asked for the last 6 months. So there is a rematch clause, well **** it and take the fight! The Klitschkos and K2 are not known for ripping their opponents off, unlike most of the other promoters out there. Does Haye think he can get a better deal negotiating with Sauerland or Don King? And from all accounts Hayemaker promotions wasn't willing to offer anybody a fair deal for his fight back in november, and that's the reason why they couldn't get a better man in the ring than Barrett then, who traveled to London for a pathetic amount and a McDonalds happy meal... (and remember Haye bragging about everyone wanting that big paycheck fighting him, and then offering some chump change... the irony). If I was Haye I would take this shot at Waldis belts for free, but I suppose he will get his fair share of the money anyway. Maybe he has just no confidence in winning and fears getting his ass beat anyway (which he probably will), and therefore wants at least to grab as much money as possible in the process... Haye may have been a good CW champ, but Holyfield and also Toney were better CWs and had to work their way to a HW title fight. Holyfield had 6 fights against strong opposition before he got a shot at Buster Douglas, and before getting a shot at the WBA strap Toney impressively beat (a past his prime) Holyfield who was still rated a top 5 HW back then. On a sidenote, Gomez, who wasn't a worse CW than Haye, gets his first shot at a HW belt in a month, after many years in the division. If Haye had beaten a more credible opponent at HW than Barrett (in a fight where he didn't look that impressive) we wouldn't have this discussion. Of course Haye is the most interesting opponent for Waldi out there right now, but he's not irreplaceable. Waldi could also fight Arreola in the US instead, and that fight would be as big in LA as the Haye fight would be in London. There's no question that Haye is a more credible and exciting opponent for Waldi than Arreola, but to me it seems that Waldi wants this fight to happen, even in London, while Haye is making a retreat now - we can hardly blame Waldi for taking the Arreola fight instead then. In the end, Haye has talked so much trash about whooping Waldis ass, he better take that fight now and stop bitching or he will lose all credibility, period. Jeez, this starts to get even worse than the constant Klits bashing by Toney - but at least Toney is a veteran ATG who has earned the right to open his mouth (as he was a better fighter than the Klits or Haye will ever be, though not at HW...)
You made some nice points and good comparisons with Gomez, Toney and Holyfield. This post serves as a reality check for the Haye fans. I guess Haye will have to wait another 2 years to get a shot at Waldo. Work his way up by beating some contenders and then if successful he will get a shot.
I know a lot of garbage has been posted on ESB as to what the K Bros demands are, but why hasn't anyone provided a source for this? The K Bros have a history of being easy to negotiate with, Haye on the other hand is know for being an ******* (just ask Barrett).
which is not a given regarding the still unanswered questions about Hayes chin. Dam, I was really looking forward to Waldi-Haye after all... there was so much hype about Haye shaking up the division when he moved up, but then it's all words and no deeds... the HW division really stinks...
:nut Stupid Bull**** how the Haye fans say "there is a limit" when Wlad asks for things, BUT when Wlad says "there are limits" to what Haye wants... you guys say "Wlad is a coward"..."Wlad is scared"...Wlad is ducking"? Double standard BULL****
