To be fair, it would have depended on what the contracts stipulated over Hayes payment for the 2 other fights if he had beaten a Klitschko in the first fight and thus got a title. If he would have got the usual "champion share" of 75%, and a 50:50 in the last fight which then would have been a unification for 3 belts, he would have had no reason to complain. No way Haye gets more from KING for fighting his pawns on smallish cards. Byrd fought for like 300k in the end, as title holder.
Yes, but Haye isn't fighting Wlad, he is fighting Don King pawns. Which means he will be fighting for 300k, unless TV stations dole out cash. I'm sure HBO dies for hosting Haye vs. Ray "Rumble in the Bronx" Austin live from Nottingham as a $49.99 PPV extravaganza, with Peter Manfredo as chief support.
After Hayes next fight he will be in the driving seat in the negotioans with the Klits. none of this "if you beat me then fight my brother then me again bull****" he will have the backing of HBO or Showtime and will be able to dicatate to the Klits were they fight will happen (Imagine it a heavyweight fight in vegas and not ****ing germany) the money and rematch clauses.
even if you were right, it just sounds like good business savvy to me! look where he is now! certainly not caring about what a bitter, jealous yank on a boxing forum is saying!
Cause he felt he would get his ass handed to him and decided to go for the fights he can win, with good money and a possible belt? Instead of having to eat his own words of the previous months and end up face first on the canvas, as it is the interest is still there and he's got his belt it wouldn't have...
I wouldnt worry, at least one of the Klit fights will happen. The 2nd will depend on if he wins and all the **** talked will be null and void. Fighting a Klit now is a much more exciting prospect than pre Valuev anyways and should attract even more interest.
I know the 1st fight was everything in the pot.....T.V. Tickets, Purse biding money everything else was to be in the pot with Wlad paying for fight week hotels and all promotion and the split was 60-40 (might have been 62-38 if I remember the exact numbers right) I dont know what that would have projected out to be, but im sure more then the reported 7 mil Haye got
My personal favourite was after Haye was offered a fight with Matt Skelton in June 2008. "They already gift-wrapped Enzo Maccarinelli for me to obliterate in a couple of rounds and now they want to wheel out the company's granddad on his Stannah stair-lift for a beating. "Frank Warren's obsessed with me. He should stop throwing me handouts and either donate the money to a more worthwhile charity or get his own house in order. "We thank Frank Warren for sacrificing Maccarinelli, but we'd feel immense guilt if we took any more free money from Sports Network. I have a hard enough time sleeping at night as it is."
So using your logic all Ali/Toney/Mayweather/Mayorga/Duran/Tyson/loads of others fans are arseholes too right? :nut
''There is nothing special about Kevin Johnson and nothing on his record that suggests he's going to threaten Vitali. The guy doesn't even have a unique name. The most competitive action this weekend will come on Sunday, when I'm nominated alongside nine other sportsmen and women for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.''
Fresh in today: "I'm looking forward to getting back to what I do best - throwing my trademark 'Hayemakers.' Ruiz is a come-forward fighter so I aim to get at him, break him down, and take him out in good style."
