Wlad showed how much he has improved. The guy dominated Brewster in the rematch, dominated Byrd worse and now he's dominated Peters. Everett Martin went the distance with Wlad once and got stopped in the rematch. Wlad seems to be good at rematches and improving as a fighter. The shots were sharp. He needed to use way more uppercuts, I don't know why he doesn't throw more. Maybe he is scared of setting his feet. I'm glad that he finally let his hands go because if he didn't stop Peters it would have looked bad as he was ****ing him up. It was a great performance by Wlad. Haye is still so fast, so powerful and Wlads dodgy chin means anything could happen. Wlad would have to be the favourite though. He has stamina issues but is much better at pacing himself and dictating the fight now.
But that was years ago. Peter landed 1 or 2 punches in the first fight and had him down [not particularly clean knock-downs the first two, but anyway] and Wlad got up and dominated. And that was 5 years ago in itself. He's vastly improved since the Sanders fight, which makes it completely irrelevant. It would be like me bringing up the Thompson fight, which is of no relevance either.
How many people have stopped Ruiz? Two. David Tua 14 years before Haye did. The only other time I remember him going down was against Toney, who was on the juice for that fight. Your argument doesn't make any sense in light of the facts. What's age got to do with it? I'll even turn it over - Wlad took ten rounds to do what his brother did in eight. He will, just making us all wait much longer than we hoped. I was always quietly but supremely confident that Haye could beat Wlad, the more i watch Wlad i am now convinced that Haye will beat him and have become less quiet about it to say the least, plus it winds up his moronic followers.
Lets not forget it was Ruiz's last ever fight ... it was a good stoppage even tho. He did hit Ruiz with a lot of shots, same as Barrett before they eventually got stopped, so I feel Haye's one punch power at HW is a little bit over rated. On the basis of sat's fight, Peter would not get stopped in 4/5 rounds.
Hayes timing was well off against Barrett he barely even landed clean shots from what I remember, was putting him down with cuffing blows. Ruiz took some monster shots. Peter would get beaten up and bamboozled by Haye, I'd go with mid to late stoppage but he'd look a lot better doing it than Wlad or Vitali.

Agree with this. Cant take anything from this Peter fight. After the first minute of the first round, Peter was easy to hit. There is no comparison to a Haye fight. For what it's worth, I think Haye could actually outbox Vit at this point. The older (slowing) brother wouldnt be able to handle Haye's speed. There's obviously the possibility that Haye gets sparko'd and that will be true whoever Haye fights, but more so against accurate punchers like the brothers. I'm still undecided on Haye's chances against Wlad. Against Eddie Chambers, Wlad was able to close the gap very, very quickly. It wasnt so much how Wlad boxed that impressed me (no different to any other performance for 85% of it), it was more how he was able to get close to an opponent intent on backing up. Haye is fast, but his footwork is not the best. He was off balance a few times against Valuev and he hardly took a punch. Against Wlad, I think that could be exposed. Haye wont be allowed the space and time to back up and turn like he did against Valuev. The beauty of the Wlad fight is that both chins are comparable, so one punch either way could end it. And, in my opinion, Haye's best plan would be to try to get inside (like Peter failed to do) throw a combo and get out again. Rather than trying to lure Wlad in and counter. Would make for a brilliant fight. I wouldnt be putting any money on the outcome though!
Difficult to argue against anyone having Wlad in their list, but looking at his opposition over the last three years, it's hardly full of future HOF'ers. I think Wlad is quality, but when you look down his record it's difficult to pick out one particular opponent and point to it as a 'marquee win'. Maybe it's because he's that good that we think this. But even cursed heavyweights like Lewis and Holmes (both accused of facing weaker opposition than their predecessors, but excused because the division was supposedly empty) have infinitely better records than Wlad. I know this isnt Wlad's fault, but I suppose my point is that we dont know how good he really is until he's tested against a top heavy. Dont know yet whether Haye is a top heavy, but of all the names around, he's certainly the best potential opponent (for me at least).
Paddy if Vlad and Vitali weren't there- one of them would be a champion. They only don't seem to perform vs the Klits.... in terms of entertainment there poor but only because no one is good enough to test them. I'd like them to fight valuev or Haye.
Wlad beats the crap out of both of those, and Vitali for what it's worth. Compared to the rest of the division he's simply that good - would have been good to have seen him competing with the likes of Briggs, Golota and Mavrovic for a shot at a Lewis or a Holyfield, rather than the chumps that make up the top 10 these days. I mean, a 34 year old blown up light heavy has made the top 5 with only four wins at HW, he ought to be an example to some of the bigger cruisers that can actually box - an in shape 210lb athlete will generally overcome a 250lb fat slob.
