Watching back it's a very close fight one or two rounds in it.. but Haye was obviously affected by the dropping the weights on the toe injury and the open stadium wet surface.. If he wore basketball trainers with a 100% toe like with Chisora.. he might have KOed or reversed the decision..
I think Haye chocked, he really didn't want to get knocked out that fight, he dived to the ground to avoid punches. Funny thing is he could hurt klitschko. he can **** off with the toe excuse, he was nonplussed as outmatched but wasn't willing to take a few risks that possibly could have got him a KO win, possibly.
After talking the talk when it came to his big moment he couldn't walk the walk. He wasn't prepared to put it all on the line. The thing is he got beat off a champion who was almost as frightened as him to engage.
Haye was surprised by how fast Wlad was.. All Haye did was go backways and sideways all night he landed maybe 2 solid right hands all night. The plan to negate wlad holding was to take a knee? I thought he would have been using more upper body movement and body shots to create room - but it didn't happen. It was a poor performance.
I think you guys are missing the point about the pain of the toe and being pushed down Povetkin style..
Adam Booth said after the fight that even without the toe Haye wouldn't have beaten Wlad that night. He was just too effective with that style;controlling the range with the longer jab and getting out of the way of Hayes lunging attacks. Haye going to the canvas was simply a response to Wlads dirty tactics of pushing down on an opponent to wear them down (a la the Povetkin stinker in Moscow)
I always thought Haye had the ability to beat Wlad but he had the wrong gameplan didnt have a back-up and failed to adapt in the moment.
Haye wouldn't have won the fight with Harry Potters wand ffs. Wlad was awful yet hardly broke sweat making Haye look like a clueless cowardly mug.
