It was a good scrap tho.

Hmmmmm i'm not convinced about that really. He was ranked 3 before losing to wlad who was ranked 1. Everyone knew wlad was the better fighter, haye won't become shot overnight.

If he was good enough for vitali before wlad, he's good enough now, imo.

I would much prefer a Povetkin fight to either Klitschko. And I could see Haye fighting him for the chance to become 2x world heavyweight champion

Povetkin-Haye would actually be a good fight that I'd favour David to win but labelling it as a title fight would be sickening. No-one should even acknowledge that worthless trinket.

The one thing I never liked about Haye was his inactivity - Povetkin and Arreola are the kind of fights he should have taken.

As it goes, I doubt this will ever happen. I think he only fights again to face a Klitschko and Vitali is still quite keen to fight him.

Yeah but... that belt is meaningless. Technically the brothers have unified, its not like beating him again is gonna make the WBA give them the title. And Vitali doesn't care about Haye having a belt, and Haye won't fight him anyway.

...What a pointless fight. Fight for a belt he doesn't really even own.

I agree Povetkin would probably avoid Haye.

Haye has blistering speed and power, and Povetkin does not have the power that Wlad has. Haye would tee-off on Povetkin as he was coming forward.

Like him or not, Haye was not thrashed by Wlad like all the others were. His decision loss to Wlad was not the onesided beating like many seem to think it was, so he is still top four at the very least, in my opinion. His loss to Wlad didn't cost him a ranking drop, seeing as how the others Wlad has beaten, he has knocked OUT. Haye won a few rounds, and even caught Wlad enough to mark him up: something noone else has been able to do.

Haye's defensive moves are very slick and hard to deal with, and I don't see Povetkin being able to land on him, especially seeing as how Wlad was stuggling to catch Haye. The way Haye could slip Wlad's shots was amazing to watch.

Haye stays back, then comes in and counters Povetkin, and knocks his ass out.

Haye is much faster, MUCH more powerful and an overall much more athletic, well conditioned overall fighter than Povetkin is. Haye's speed would frustrate Povetkin and Haye's power would put Povetkin down, probably mid rounds.

Your biasedness is borderline becoming childishly shallow.

Haye didn't run the entire fight, he had some amazing displays of very slick defensive moves while Wlad was right on him. Watch it again and get back to me.

Haye beats Povetkin, most certainly. Yesterday's fight confirms that.

Haye can drop someone with what looks like a mere *tap on the snoot*, but yet the shot has crippling power. Povetkin is not big or powerful enough to handle Haye, nor is he skilled enough to keep Haye from teeing off on him.

That (ahem) *fraud* unified the titles and cleaned house a mere one weight class down, and his skill and power transfered into success in every heavyweight fight he had.

The only exception was the Wlad fight, in which he lost a decision, he managed to land enough shots to mark Wlad's face up (something even Wlad pointed out), he nailed Wlad hard enough to where Wlad was clearly stunned and held on for 12 seconds, and even in losing, Haye proved to be just about the ONLY threat out there to either Wlad or Vitali...............even now, that is still the case.

i said he was a heavyweight fraud ...which he was....for all the **** he said he was gonna do and didnt.,..
big ****ing deal, he buzzed wlad with one punch over 12 rounds and he didnt have the balls to throw it until the fight was almost over....
so hayes claim to heavyweight fame is running from valuev and "out pointing him" just like a 46 year old heavyweight previously did...tkod 2 near 40 year olds, one which was a complete bum, the other hadnt had a win over a top 10 guy in 6 years. oh yeah...and he went 12 rounds with wlad, landing 77 total punches.....and catching him with one at the end....:patsch
thats equivalent to a guy striking out 4 times in one game during the world series but bragging about the long foul ball he hit over the fence.
    :hi:

No active heavyweight comes close to the defensive skills of chris byrd.

Who else can walk down vitali making him miss 80% of his shots? He was able to stand and trade with golota and mccline without taking much leather.

Haye has proven to have brilliant defence but it's different and less effective than chris's imo.

The amazing ability to slip so many punches that Haye displayed in the Wlad fight was obviously comparable Byrd's defense. To prove this, just compare the outcomes.....LOL

Haye survived and was never really hurt, and Byrd was bloodied, hammered, and stopped. I realize Byrd was past his best at that point, but Haye's defense was comparabel to what Byrd was in his heavyweight heyday.....at least in my opinion.

    Rewatch the Wlad Haye fight.

I was impressed with Haye's performance in some aspects, even though his mouthing did cause a great sense of disgust in his inablity to exhange and do * what he said he'd do*. But you gotta look at his performance without the preconcieved notion that his cocky mouthing instilled. And if you do that, you'll realize his performance was certianly not nearly as bad as most seem to make it out to be.

Haye did better against Wlad than anyone since Peter............ Fact.

And Haye beats Povetkin like a rented mule. He is a legit heavyweight with blistering power and speed. And Haye is just too fast, skilled, and powerful for Teddy's *kid*.

If a fight with Povetkin happens next, then Haye will be the rightful favorite. But that is by no means an easy fight for Haye to win. Given Povetkin's work-rate and movement Haye would have to take it to Povetkin and get the KO imo. I don't think Haye has proven he can be active enough to outpoint Sasha, and I think Sasha has proven he's fast enough to land on Haye. So the key factor would be Sasha's chin. I suspect the cumulative damage from Haye's power shots would eventually buckle Povetkin. But it would be a cool fight to watch whichever way it goes.

haye and byrd cannot and should not be compared..byrd will being elusive was able to muster up attacks..haye dosnt..any in shape heavyweight can do what haye done and thats stay on the outside and not engage one bit that is why he was able to survive..when haye fights agressive and attacks he gets hit alot and quite easily...
