Vitali would have fought Haye if the WBC had allowed him to, but they mandated Vitali to fight Gomez the mandatory. Now the WBC is trying to force Vitali to fight Maskaev, but Vitali would like to fight Haye. Haye is a very easy knockout for Vitali. Vitali wants this fight. If this fight happens, Haye fans will be devastated.

Although I am gutted the fight is not happening, you can't argue that Wlad did the wrong thing in the end considering the circumstances. No one bitched out it was just an unfortunate situation that came about. Like Bernd Bonte said- the time Haye gave for his recovery was just a guesstimate anyway, there was no way of knowing if his back would have been 100% if given another month.

vitali should bend over for jose and the WBC and scream out 'thank you sir, please may i have another' after they just let him walk straight into a title shot after four years out of the game.

vitali and his fans are in no position to ***** about the conduct of the wbc.

It becomes even more laughable when one of them, Haye in this case, at one point comes out and says plainly "Yeah, I'm trying to wind him up and sell tickets."

Some fights and fighters you know they genuinely dislike their opponents.
Most of the time though, it's hype. I remember, many years after he retired, Chris Eubank saying openly that he decided very early on that the quickest way to big money and big attention was to 'play the villain'.
