Carl Thompson that is! Unlike the (now former two time) World Cruiserweight Champion Mormeck, Carl actually did suck it up and beat Haye.

I think it shows you how good Thompson actually was.

But hey, tonight is Haye's night. He showed great heart and power to get the job done against the odds, he learnt a lot from the Thompson fight.

Well done David Haye, now use your common sense and not fight at Heavyweight, unless the money is seriously good!;)

Carl was a terrific fighter. But he never held the #1 position at that weight. Thompson was a gladiator, with so many great wars and some world class wins. He made Haye the fighter he is today.

I said when Haye lost that he could learn more from that one defeat then he could from the 14 or so wins he had at the time.

The key word being 'could', because some guys are never quite the same after a loss...it's not easy coming back. But Haye did the right things and here's a payoff, two-belt Cruiser champ.

Nah, Carl Thompson was no gladiator. he was a cheat, who scored his biggest win thanks to wearing loaded gloves. Does this shock you?

Didn't they replace the gloves before he could use them on Rothman?

I was very disappointed with Carl Thompson. He was totally dominated by Rothman. Rothman pleaded with the ref to stop the fight and eased off on punishing him further. Sadly, Carl Thompson decided to throw a cheap shot and caught Rothman off guard and KHTFO. In his post fight interview, he acted like he dominated and was the man. He's a punk.

As much as David has learned from that fight his defense is still porous and he STILL hasnt learnt how to keep his left hand up.Its so annoying to see him ship right hands for no good reason other than trying to be cuter than what he is.David pulled of a fantastic result and his power bailed him out again. But his got to be consistent as i fear he could loose to any average can with his chin being quite average and his left being so low.

Still room to work on those things, you're right. Although I have a feeling he'll never hold that left up tight.

But his stamina, poise and just sheer not going balls-out for a KO are all things that have gotten better, most likely due to the Thompson loss.

I've still got Haye-Thompson on a tape somewhere...at the time, I was happier Carl won!

Haye is an area that me and you totally agree on. He has so much ability but like too many fighters trys to be RJJ, which is ridiculous because they attempting to mimick the style of one of the most gifted, fast and incredible reaction time fighters of all time.

Haye was getting hit by right ****ing leads on Saturday. Mormeck is no Ali, and getting tagged by rights with no jab to set them up, shows how ludicrous that left by the knee stance is.
He would lose NOTHING in terms of his fighting style etc to just pull his ****ing glove up. Carl Froch is the same, trying to look super slick, difference is that Froch does not have Hayes speed, but he does have a rock chin, so at least the stance is not as incredibly dangerous.

Imagine Haye eating rights off even a good heavy, someone like Peter.:dead

I can imagine that as Haye would be scraped off the canvass.Im quite surprised as to why his trainers after nearly 20 fights havent pulled him up on it.Which inclines me to think his surrounded by "Yes" men as opposed to a trainers that are really interested in his welfare.

As for Froch his just as bad.His had smoke blown up his arse and also thinks his another RJJ.As soon as he steps up believe me his cage will get rattled just like Hayes was.To think a guy like Mormeck was hitting him with right hand leads is almost mortifying.
