I didn't even have him beating Valuev - they were both terrible on the night and barely landed, Haye shook up Valuev once near then end, and for me a title should not change hands on so little. If two fighters are equal - and on that occasion I thought that they were equally negative - then the title should stay with the holder.

I think that the judges were pro-Haye as the WBA saw the way the division was going and Valuev was not the guy they wanted as champ at that point.

That's not the way fights are scored though is it? Was close but Valuev landed nothing of note the entire fight. Haye did and was imo rightly awarded the decision and as a result became the celebrity he now is.

I think he tried, he just couldnt.

Wlad was cautious too, but if Wlad had big brothers iron jaw, Haye would have been out cold.

But then you're saying a Champion can win rounds by default based on how dominant the opponent is, or isn't in a particular round.

You dont score a fight on the perception of who you think deserves to keep their title, or who it feels like won the fight, its done round by round, so you can get a guy who wins the rounds he wins narrowly, and another guy who wins the rounds he wins more definitively, making him appear more effective, but its accumulation of rounds that counts when scoring.

PS, I had Haye beating Valuev comfortably based on the punches that actually landed.

I can see Haye asking for too much - and Vitali just telling him to **** off. Should try and become his mandatory. Haye v Austin anyone?

Haye only wants Vitali for a big payday....Vitali wants Haye cos he wants to knock him out after Wlad failed to do so!

I reckon Vitali has a great opportunity to knock Haye out but unfoprtuantely as Haye will only be in it for the money, he will try and dodge bullets all night and it will be as boring as the Wlad fight.

I completely agree with you conceptually, of course I do, I do score fights that way - but I had Valuev by one or two (can't remember, but had it close in his favour).

If a round is very close, though, I think that it is fair enough to lean towards the champion or score it a draw. I didn't see enough from Haye to have him winning, indeed he was often negative and not looking to make a fight of it. And at that time I was a massive fan and if anything was biased in his favour, not Valuev's!

I was absolutely gutted once the fight was finished and before they read the scores out, as I felt that he had not done enough to win and Valuev was a terrible champ (who was gifted against Holyfield - more WBA politics?). Then my wife and I danced around the room like nutters when it was scored for Haye. So I hear you, we just saw the fight differently.

    My card...

    1 Haye

Haye landed a few jabs to the belly and a right hook behind the elbow, Valuev missed most of the jabs he attempted.

    2 Haye

He landed the two best punches of the round, a right hand and
a left hook right hand, Valuev landed to the chest with the jab but not enough imo.

    3 Haye
Haye clearly landed the cleaner punches.

    4 Valuev

Valuev was more active, he landed with left hook whilst haye was pulling
out, he also landed a short right, he used the jab consistently, Haye's combos missed for the most part.

    5 Haye

Close round where Haye landed jabs to the belly, Valuev also landed
jabs to the chest, but in the middle of round Haye scored a combo,
Valuev landed a combo towards the end to even it up again, but Haye landed a clipping shot right at the end to take the round imo, close though.

    6 Valuev

Valuev did better here, he landed the jab throughout the round to body and head, he also landed a nice left hook early, he landed some liver shots to. Haye landed one clean left hook but a lot of his raids were blocked.

    7 Valuev

Hardest round to score so far, Haye landed some shots but was way too
inactive. Valuev landed some jabs and countered Haye's right had counter
once in the round, he also landed jabs to the body and head. Haye tried a combo at the end but virtually missed all.

    8 Haye
Very inactive round for both, that said Haye closed it out with the
cleaner shots in the last min or so.

    9 Haye
Haye landed 3 clean right hands here.

    10 Haye
Haye landed the cleaner work for me, he landed an inside left hook, right
hook to the body and another cuffing right hand toward the end, Watt & Dark scored it for valuev, but i dont know why.

    11 Valuev
I thought Haye was too inactive here, meanwhile Valuev was not that effective either, but he was consistent, and I was looking for a sympathy round for him anyway.

    12 Haye
He landed the cleaner shots and wobbled Valuev. Valuev caught him on
the tail end of a left hook but that is the only punch I can remember him
    landing.

The best!! Valuev could of got was a draw, that would of been kind to him. The least Haye could of got was a draw, he won the fight clearly on clean punches landed imo.

I don't keep my cards - I know!! - so can't defend myself against such a considered advance, so will withdraw from the field.
