Good interview with David Haye in May's Boxing Monthly, showing his dislike of calzaghe snr...

"he has a freakishly good boxer as a son, but you could get Mr Bean to train joe and he's still be world champion"

"maccarinelli's a long-armed puncher who's advised to fight in close like joe does. its unnatural for maccarinelli to fight in close. it doesn't make sense, physically, for a 6ft 4in guy like that to do it. All maccarinellis padwork that i saw was done at close range and i thought that was a red herring - something to trick me. surely the two enzo's weren't stupid enough to think that by copying joe calzaghe they could beat me?
at one point in training adam said to me 'if maccarinelli carries on training with enzo calzaghe, this fight is going to be the easiest fight you've had amateur or pro'. Adams never said that to me before and he was 100% right"

    later...

"enzo calzaghe didn't give me any credit before the fight and he didn't give me any credit after the fight. he said that i didn't punch very hard and that maccarinelli was twice as fast. the last thing you want to tell one of my opponents is that i don't punch very hard!"

about enzo's claim that if macca had gone 12 rounds he would have ended hayes career...

"its like saying the only reason mike tyson won so many fights by ko is because opponents never stuck to their gameplan. if peter mcneeley didn't get sparked in the first round, he'd have destroyed tyson over 12 rounds. what kind of bull**** comment is that?"

    concluding the interview...

"i genuinely wish maccarinelli all the best, but if he wants any success in this sport, i believe he needs to get a boxing coach who is willing to treat maccarinelli as his own man and work on what he possesses, rather than turn him into something he's not and never will be"

That one made me laugh. It was a ridiculous comment/excuse from Enzo Calzaghe. If the fight had gone 12 rounds Macca would have won? You can't say that if you're incapable of going 12 rounds!

Enzo has definitely let the fame go to his head as of late. Once his son retires no-one will be talking about him anymore.

True but Haye could of got to where he Is now without Booth as well who Is more a personal trainer than boxing trainer. Maybe another trainer wouldn't of let Haye bulk up too soon causing his weight problems at cruiser.

Booth wouldn't of made Rees and Maccarinelli Into world champs. Enzo has a mouth but he Is a good trainer.

well i agree joe calzaghe makes enzo look better then he really is, to a certain degree joes boxing brain covers the flaws in enzo and when other boxers use enzo its never the same

MBaye having the worst night of his life made rees world champ, 99/100 MBaye beats him.

Calzaghe is defo over rated. But Adam Booth also hit jackpoty by getting a natural talent in haye.

But Adam Booth isn't being voted trainer of the year and running his mouth off every second.

Enzo Calzaghe has put himself up there to be shot at and the bullets are hitting now.

If Enzo hit the jackpot with Joe than Booth has hit the jack pot with Haye.
