Haye on Khan

Seeing Haye admitting that his chin's suspect is strange. I wouldn't of expected him to be so modest about it.

Great advice for Khan, but aswell as that it bodes well for Haye's HW future as he seems to realise he's not strong enough in the chin department to trade with heavyweight guys.

 

You cant bull**** your way to world titles. If you lie to yourself it will be exposed in the ring. He has got as far as he has by recognising his own limitations and working with what he's got.

 

Yes its to his credit that he can admit his own weaknesse's

Apart from the fact that Haye is giving out unasked for advice about business that does not concern him his advice is quite accurate

good sparring is what you need in America

In Hayes fight with Maccarenelli I have always admitted that I thought Hayes preparation was far more professional and this made a big difference in the fight

Haye was out there in Miami sparring these big tough American heavyweight gym rats

and Enzo was down the Calzaghe gym doing a bit of light sparring when one of the boys like Bradley Price was available - very poor unprofessional sparring

Enzo said he never did power sparring just worked on his speed cos he was sparring these low level small guys

imagine the shock to the system then when you step in the ring with someone who punches as hard as Haye

 

Thats scarey after sparring with smaller fighters

When Haye posted on here he admitted his chin wasn't the best, so its not a huge surprise.

Interesting what he says about defence and not keeping your hands up too much. That style suits Haye, but at crusier/heavy its probably easier too use that style as you can see the punches coming easier than at lighter weights where you get hit alot faster and more often.

Not sure a "hands down" style would work for Khan against top opposition IMO.

 

that was a really good read and reminds me why I liked Haye a lot before he started getting too excited about heavyweight in the last month or so.

 

Haye's just looking to tap into the Khan fan base with a sympathy post.

Next thing he'll say is, hey Amir don't knock your brother haroon out cold like i did to my brother as the whole family will fall out with you.

 

By what logic can that work?

Punch resistance is all to do with taking shots. If his punch resistance is poor, how can he take a shot?

 

His whole head is the problem. He's got a glass forehead, temple, ear, nose, chin, mouth. The works.

Can't take a body punch either.

Amir Khan was incredibly hyped up even before he turned pro, even he was surprised by it.If a fighter is built up too soon,he wants to impress too soon.He has a dodgy chin but it can`t be that good the pressure as he`s had much more of than any other British fighter at 21.

 

Great advice from Haye. Khan needs to escape the spotlight and just knuckle down to his boxing. His chin may always be his Achilles Heel, but Haye is dead right - Khan is not fighting in a way which can best hide a suspect jaw. Plenty of champions through the years have been fragile, yet they just created a style designed to limit the amount of punishment they took.
