From an interview in this month's Boxing Monthly. Both the Klistchko brothers have been there at the top, but they haven't stamped their authority in the division. David Haye: "You have Vitali, who everyone seems to think was the best in the world, but let's look at his resume...So OK, he won the vacant WBC title against Corrie Sanders and then defended it against Danny Williams and that's it! That's it! That's his heavyweight legacy? His reputation seems to be based largely on having had a good couple of rounds against Lennox Lewis... "But he lost the fight! He lost the fight! And I definitely thought that if the fight had gone on, he'd have got knocked out. I thought it was going that way. But regardless of what I or anyone else thinks might have happened, he lost against Lennox. End of story. He lost against Lennox, good luck to him, but Keljko Mavrovic put up a better fight against Lennox than he did and he didn't get cut, and no one's claiming Mavrovic's a great heavyweight! So Vitali loses against Lennox - and remember that Lennox took Vitali at two weeks notice cos he was supposed to be fighting Larry Donald, or somebody crap lol: ) like that, a counter puncher who was about 6ft 2ins rather than an aggressive 6ft 7in fighter, so Lennox probably didn't even train properly for Vitali - then he picks up the title against a guy who's been knocked out a few times, a golfer from South Africa who actually wobbled Vitali a few times. Then he goes on and fights Danny Williams and knocks him out and that's it - he retires! :rofl
haye is on point about vitali, but i don't think haye will do that much as a heavyweight. if wlad doesn't lay him out, someone else probably will before haye even gets that shot at wlad.
It's cool that Haye is not procaliming himself to be awesome as much as he is procaliming that everyone else sucks.
Haye should shut the **** up and stop using names to get attention. He should man up now and prove he is a real threat in the division by climbing up in the rankings before critizing anybody in the HW division. HYPE! HYPE! HYPE! Who the **** has this guy beaten in the heavy weight division? :deal
he is right but guess what that is more then hayes hw legacy maybe HAYE should make some legacy before he bashes someone elses
Vitali's "legacy" L TKO 9 Chris Byrd L TKO 6 Lennox Lewi (awaits meaningless stats to defend Shitali like 'he won a great percentage of rounds')
Haye needs to pick an opponent already, instead of trying to discredit other fighters in the division. I'm starting to believe that Haye is regretting his decision to move up to heavyweight which is why he still has'nt fought since Enzo Maccaranelli.
