Was in the bath reading the report on the Haye fight in this week's Boxing News and read Haye was deducted two points for a shot to the back of the head. Is this correct? Can the ref choose to deduct more than one point due to the severity of a foul? Cheers :good
just re-watched this on sky and it wasnt very clear. why allow a knockdown then deducta point for the shot that caused it
That was my thought at the time. Not watched it back but presumed that the ref thought Ruiz was going anyway and the rabbit punch didnt really make any difference. As it happens, it was all academic anyway, but I would like to know the answers to these.
He didn't deduct a point for the shot that caused the ref to administer a standing 8, he gave it for the shot that came after
The whole thing was pointless. Presumably it would have been a 10-8 round for the count with a point deducted from Haye making it 9-8? Had none of this happened it would have still been 10-9 to Haye so what difference did any of it make?
Yeah i was under the understanding that the first punch was what the ref based the count on.. the illegal one being the one the point was deducted for. It doesn't really matter though, like someone said above it didn't affect the outcome in any way.
