How can losing fans - including many British ones - without even losing a fight and getting a reputation as one of the biggest active duckers, be clever?

I voted "scared." I don't think he's scared of getting his ass kicked, no prize fighter reall is or they'd do something else for a living. I do believe he's scared of losing his already highly tainted WBA belt, which is his meal ticket. :deal He's just trying to fight some easy fights and build up some cash before he cashs out against a Klitschko.

The thing is he knows that as soon as he takes the fight all those he has lost will say oh he wasn't ducking he was just getting him self a better deal. So even if he loses rep now from hardcore fans he is gaining more casual fans and then he get's others back anyway.

Little bit of both. He fears his career prospects post Klits not the fight itself. He is clever to milk his new found fame for what it is worth.

    I can't say I blame him.

If any of us were in that situation we would want a few million in the bank first before taking such a huge risk.

Yes, "Clever" in a scammer way. Just like Ronnie Biggs - the man who robbed the post train in the 60s - is a legendary hero of the working class but in fact he's nothing short of a despicable criminal.

Just like Haye is a lying lack of **** but he's cleverly lying to the naive public in order to generate risk-free money for himself and his family. Good for him.

Nah. The Klitschko brothers don't do this sort of thing. They're both accomplished in and out of the ring and they just want to fight when it comes to boxing. They genuinely want to knock his head off, but he backs out of signed contracts and makes it very difficult to fight him.

I was a massive Haye fan when I actually believed he wanted to fight the Klitschko brothers and be Heavyweight kingpin. It's plain as day now, however, that he is a fraud. I rarely come down on fighters like this, but it's just so ****ing embarrassing what he did, piggybacking on their names to get himself noticed. I will never watch another one of his fights until he fights one of the two men he claimed to want to get in the ring with. Until then he can **** off.

Yep, clever purely in the sense that he's making as much money as he can before the Klitschko brothers take him apart. Aside from that, he's a ****ing goof.

He's scared, which is clever because he'll get a pizza face.

That 50/50, one fight deal won't necessarily be waiting for him forever..

To call him clever is a long stretch of imagination, to put it nicely.
