Okay Bellew did better than most foresaw but Haye was injured and and his loss can be directly attributable to that. If Groves deserved a rematch on Froch for an over zealous ref then surely Haye is worth a return. Hearn should be negotiating that and not some fantasy hw title fight.
Haye should get a rematch. They are obviously quite equally matched. It's a winnable fight for Bellew. It makes sense. It will be interesting to see how Haye fanatics will manage to spin TWO LOSSES to Tony Bellew into some sort of "victory". Unbelievably, already a loss to a man who allegedly wasn't even fit to share a ring with him is being praised way above all reason.
Haye should get a rematch and he will- but Bellew should take a big money cash out fight before the rematch. He cannot be waiting 9-12 months for Haye to return, and who knows if he will even get through the full camp? He hardly has a great record with injuries and pull outs!
I don't think bellews gonna give him a rematch unless its the best financial fight out there for him..He knows he was gifted the win through injury.. The next one he might not be so lucky
Yes he should. Bellew's clearly never going back to Cruiser and he said he doesn't want anything to do with the big heavyweights despite now saying he'll fight Fury, so it's the only other option really. Plus it would be nice to see how it would have finished without an injury that severe taking part. Although I do agree, I can't see Haye giving Tony the rematch if he had won.
In hindsight, Haye will know it won't work going in there to try and smash him out early and so he'll establish the jab and try and set traps for Bellew. He doesn't have that pressure (put on my himself in the first fight) to spark him quick to make a statement. So all the ingredients are different for a rematch which makes for a much less entertaining scrap.
A rematch would be a reasonable fight for both men. If boxing made any sense they'd make it an eliminator for the British heavyweight title, and get Chisora to fight H.Fury (assuming Hughie doesn't grab the WBO title) in another eliminator, since Dillian Whyte seems to have relinquished the title already.
