IMO, Haye should defend his title for a maximum of 2 years and then go for Wlad in a superfight. Haye is still young for a heavyweight and needs to gain more experience before taking on such an accomplished champion like Wlad. Experience is very important as a heavyweight and Wlad has clearly an advantage there. From a marketing standpoint, the additional time will only make the fight bigger.

Haye made a smart business move by fighting for the WBA belt. His entourage will probably suggest him to wait for a fight with Wlad. As for Vitali, I am aware that he will retire very soon and won't be around in a couple of years. That is good news for Haye because Vitali is a bad matchup for him.

It is obvious that Wlad is pressuring for a fight with Haye right now because he knows that Haye will gain more experience and confidence over time. There is only a slim chance that Haye will lose by KO before fighting Wlad because the division is weak. Possible but improbable.

I think he should fight Vitali first, which i see as a much moe winnable fight for him.

If he wins that he'll have a mandatory or two to get through given that he then holds two belts.

Then i think he'll be as ready as he'll ever be for Wladimir. I trutly dislike Wladimir as a boxer, but I admit he's just too much for David at this stage. If Haye loses now, it's over for him. He should make the Wlad fight one of his last fights in the game.

Why are people saying this? Are you a boxing fan or do you just want to see your man Haye winning 'easy' fights? If he's to young and inexperienced then he can regain his title in the future if he loses and really is this good.
And he shouldn't run his mouth then... If he thinks he's not ready he's a bigger man admitting that in public then make up some excuses on the way!

Well, maybe if Haye had been less of a dick about the whole thing I would agree with you.

Haye's been saying he can beat Wladimir Klitschko for the last 2 years, and calling Wlad a "bum" and all Wlad's opponents "bums".
If he wants any respect in boxing he needs to fight or SHUT THE **** UP.

Yes, it's smart thing to avoid fighters who might knock him out of the ring, AND it's a smart thing to talk a load of crap to increase your own profile.

BUT if he wants any real respect and a good legacy he should fight Wlad soon (this year !), and not wait until he's old. That would just be so ****ing lame, Haye's record will be a joke if he just waits until Wlad is old before he fights him.

I agree with your post. From a boxing fan's perspective, the fight needs to happen now. However, I think that it is in Haye's best interests to wait. I am also concerned that a lot of fighters (Arreola, Kirk Johnson) are fighting the Klits to soon.

As for Haye running his mouth, I am not taking it too serious, it just adds some charisma and a personality to a division that badly needs it.

Yep it is, but a lot of his 'fans' don't see it that way... Some actually believe he will fight and KO both Klit brothers simultaniously. The other thing is that you can't call yourself 'The Heavyweight Champion of the World' if your not willing to fight all others who want to make a claim on that... it creates a stain on the title, and it's so stained already! Boxing needs at least the Heavyweight title unified to be transparent and believable.

So no-one at the present time can be called 'Heavyweight Champion of the World' in your estimation?

Haye is beatable, not just by Wlad. An old Larry Donald and an ancient Holyfield lookd about as good as Haye against Valuev and Chagaev lookd arguably better. Haye is like a past - prime Tyson, he will wreck fighters like Ruiz but I am not sure that he beats Arreola or Solis.

    Read the statement again... :?

The big problem on the moment is the confusion it all creates... For instance yesterday a Dutch newspaper had a very little (like all boxing articles nowadays in Holland) article about Evander Holyfield retaking the Heavyweight championship with his win against Botha???!!!??? :nut

Kirk Johnson??? Where the **** did you pull that one out of?? Johnson was 34-1-1 was pushing 32. When should he have fought a Klitschko??? when he was 45-1-1 and beat everyone else in the division and weighed 300 pounds??? He wasnt that good.

I already read it. You said you can't be champion if you're not willing to fight all others who may lay a claim on that. So there is no champion currently in your view.

Haye/Wlad is one of only a few fights that can be made in the heavyweight division that will generate interest among fight fans and casual viewers of our great sport. I think Haye deserves about 40%, but Wlad should just swallow his pride and make the fight happen. Is 10% really worth not taking the fight? A fight that might get him back on TV, so us americans can watch him again and not through a shitty stream again.

That's what you said, I just wasn't sure whether you actually meant to say it or not.

    I'm still not really sure.

You can't have two 'the champions' right?

So does your statement actually represent your views, or do you create your own exemptions depending on the circumstances?
