IMHO, Haye should take that WBA belt and put it exactly where it belongs, in the garbage. It was just announced today by Sauderland that Haye is going to have to fight a rematch against the meek Beast from the East, Valuev. :patschThat means his next two fights are going to be against the amorous John Ruiz and the hopeless Valuev...Really, does David Haye want to waste the best years of his career fighting these guys? I'm certain that even without the WBA strap now that he has proven he is a worthy adversary, he could negotiate a much better deal with the Klitschkos.

Otherwise, he may miss his chance at Vitali, who is now 38 years old. In all honesty, there is little chance he'll be around in a year and a half, once Haye completes these useless defenses.

    PS

Yes, I know Bowe threw out the WBC belt and not the WBA strap.

Haye is not stupid, he knew well enough that he would have to defend his WBA strap against Ruiz and then give Valuev a rematch when he signed that contract. There will be no unification fight anytime soon, if you believed Hayes talk about that you must be very naive. You'll see that Haye still wants no part of the Klits, he'll just be comfortable defending his WBA belt against the usual suspects (Ruiz, Chagaev, Valuev...)

Bowe dumped his belt because he was afraid of his mandatory, Haye doesn't have this problem, he's afraid of who he would have to fight if he dropped his belt.

That has nothing to do with the belt. He signed a contract with a rematch clause. Big whoop. Hopefully Haye wins more convincingly next time, but I imagine the rematch would be in England, where the fight would be bigger at this point.

I never suggested that Haye was afraid of his mandatory. But, and correct me if I am wrong, his whole reason for coming up to the heavies was to fight the best, to fight the Klitschkos. Now it appears as if he is going to be stuck in mandatories and rematches for the next year and a half. :good

Well, if he knew he was going to have to have a rematch with Valuev, why did he say, shortly after the fight that Valuev could "get in line" if he wanted another fight. You can look that up. That is a quote. Now, either it slipped David's mind that he had a rematch clause, or he was unaware of it. :-(

Uhmm. Of course it has something to do with this belt. He is contractually obligated to give Valuev a rematch within a year of their first fight, otherwise he'll be stipped. That means he fight Ruiz, then he fights Valuev again. THis is not rocket science here, folks. :huh

As far as I can gather, he has to give Valuev a rematch within a year of their first fight. Which likely means that he fight Ruiz in the spring and then Valuev, again, in the fall. :patsch
