Haye still injured?

Fury v Joshua is a bigger money fight than Joshua v Haye.
It's the contrasting personalities and Fury's ongoing claim to have never lost his title in the ring that makes it so massive.
Fury plays the villain, AJ the goodie.
AJ and Haye don't contrast so much. Haye's old news.

The myth of prime Haye is funny though. I'm not sure how much you guys really believe in it or not but it seems to be an ongoing motif in this forum.
The man's heavyweight highlight is a win over Chisora, for crying out loud.

Please, grow up now and realize your mythical prime Haye never existed.
He was a second-rate paper champion at best.
AJ and Fury already surpassed him clearly.
Haye has mediocre heavyweight resume. I don't understand how so many of you are under the impression he had a glorious prime. If he didn't have a big mouth and some charm he'd be more realistically viewed as another mediocre also-ran from the Klitschko era.
I don't begrudge him his salesman ways and the money it's earned him but don't expect me to buy it.
As fans and critics of the boxing game, people need to look honestly at Haye's career and see he's barely ever faced a heavyweight contender. His best win is Dereck ****ing Chisora, his second best win a Hughie Fury-like performance against a saggy giant called Valuev.
He did nothing against Wlad.

The Chisora win is not to be snuffed at. That was the best version of Chisora fresh off of a very good display against Vitali. Haye was the first man to knock him out, totally body bagged him within five rounds.

Chisora has fought elite fighters in Vitali and Fury, a world level fighter in Pulev and a good fighter in Whyte, and none of them beat him as impressively and convincingly as my G David Haye.

 

Haye at his was best was worthy of the tag of world class fighter.

Maybe it's just his pinky toe issues surfacing again. Doesn't have to be anything major.

 

Fit, I’d fancy him against wilder and parker...he’d get openings against AJ, Wlad was stylistically all wrong...

But I must admit his heavyweight resume could be better, povetkin would’ve been a nice addition, there was talk of chagaev and arreola, but it wasn’t like the division was stacked at the time. Ruiz win was decent, a beat down, though Ruiz was done...Chisora was a good win because he beat him like no one else could and fought the best version of him...

Can’t deny Haye has world class attributes when in peak condition...

 

At his best, Haye is 50/50 against all of the current crop. Although I always thought Povetkin and a healthy Chagaev would have been bad match-ups for him.

It's a pastime on this forum to diminish him for some. Unified cruiser champ and legitimate WBA world champ who's only loss at world level came against a version of Wlad that would have most likely beaten Fury and AJ.

 

Nice to see Haye getting some credit on here for once. I was re-watching the first gloves are off between Klitschko/Fury recently and found it interesting that Wlad rated the Haye win as his best. Haye at that time was a world class fighter in my books but was up against prime Klitschko who not only is an ATG heavyweight but was also stylistically all wrong for him. Hope he comes into the Bellew rematch injury free and has it in him to turn back the clock and get his revenge.

That comment was purely to wind Tyson up, Wlad knew how deep the problem with the Furys and Haye are. He robbed them of millions, it was an attempt to get in his head.

This was the beginning of the end for me with David Haye, he was never going to take the fury fight. He knew it had the potential to end his career and although at the time I think he'd have won, it was too big a risk... Then he went on to give us the Dave farce telling us boxers who learnt to fight on Youtube were a legitimate threat!

This whole comeback was because he saw the £ signs rolling in when he saw Anthony Joshua coming up, Bellew became the road block he wasn't expecting.
Two bums on terrestrial tv to remind all the casual fans that David Haye is back. The ring side brawl on a non PPV sky show with Bellew fighting Hayes "best friend", leading to a PPV fight with Bellew, the script was there for Haye to win to build up to him and Joshua fighting probably this Saturday in Cardiff and Haye to ride off into the sunset with his millions.

Then the achilles went...

 

I said before the last fight that I didn't care what happened, as long as it was conclusive. I didn't get my wish, but I'll say the same thing for this fight. I just don't care as long as it doesn't lead to a 'thrilling' TRILOGY.

Best thing that can happen is Haye's leg literally falls off* so we can forget this whole sorry saga.

*still takes Bellew another 2 rounds to get the TKO if that happens.

 

This gets said a lot on here, mate, and I do get what you saying...but I would argue that i’ve seen fights stopped for a fraction of the one-way action we saw in round 7 of that Haye-Bellew fight. Proper high profile fights too. Haye got leathered in that round, he took a lot of shots, was defenceless and wasn't throwing anything (meaningful) back. It should have been stopped. A fighter shouldn’t have to knock his opponent momentarily unconscious before sense prevails. McGuigan and the referee didn’t have the backbone to stop the fight for the co-promoter/boss.

 

Rubbish. Haye is a lot more commercially appealing and PPV friendly than Fury.

Haye v AJ off the back of a convincing victory against Bellew is going to far more financially viable than any AJ v TF.

 

Also the risk,AJ is Matchroom's main and only Elite fighter aswell as Sky's main PPV attraction.They choose his opponents wisely.Haye is old and shot,so it is a case of low risk and high reward,look at the size of AJ to Haye.I am fearful of Haye actually getting seriously Hurt.Fury is a different story,you dont know what he can do,he could miraculously come back and put on a boring 12 round points win,or get banged out in a couple of rounds.For a fight like that Fury needs to get back into contention aswell by having a couple of warm up fights,as well as Warren looks to have a link To Fury as well as Hearn having to deal with Hennesey.It is easier with Haye,and can be easily put in the 2018 schedule.Haye with the payday he will get,would go into this fight with both legs and arms broken,so they dont need to worry about him pulling out.

 

Just re-watched round 7, I forgot just how damn weird it was. If you ask me Bellew didn't land any punches that looked like they should force the stoppage. The punches had nothing behind them. If Haye wasn't injured and both of them threw the same shots they did in that round and it was stopped, then you could be sure there would have been an uproar. It would have been a contender for the most 'British' stoppage of all time.

The ref was put in a very strange situation. Common sense says the fight should just be stopped, but instead Haye was fighting on without even being buzzed, never mind noticeably hurt.
