Haye to retire in october, "with or without klitschko"

Interviewer: "why are you retiring?"

Haye: " I've had 20 years of being punched in the face, that's enough!"

 

Why is there all this talk about "if they cannot come to an agreement" malark. Wlad is willing to do a 50/50 deal with no options, so why is there such talk of contract negotiations possibly breaking down. The ball is in Haye's court, and has been for quite some time. He's talking about the fight, just ****ing get on with it so and get a contract signed. 50/50 with no options is as good as it gets. If Haye genuinely wants this fight, it will get made.

 

Haye would be a complete laughing stock if he retires without this fight. He already kinda is but I think the more knowing posters have realized what his game is and not tended to get bent out of shape. But if he does actually retire without giving the fans this fight he's a proper nob head.

 

He's a proper nobhead already. I still think he'll fight a Klit. Too much money in it. It's not like he's too proud to retire on a brutal knock out. His fight with Harrison has already made him a laughing stock. He'll take a beating for a cool 10 million.

What I mean is, his game has been all about easy money and ensuring his retirement fund so far with fairly minimal risk. It was fairly transparent so it wasn't too difficult for me to wait and see. But if it does come down to it and he retires without this fight I'll be seriously ****ed off with him. I think it will get made, I think this is posturing to get the details nailed down in his favour.

 

He won't retire without it, that's his nest egg.

I'd rather get licked and get paid than bow out and potentially leave that money on the table, I suspect Haye feels the same way.

If Haye retires, I would theorize that it would be because he feels he had achieved his goals, and is not too concerned about all the cash he could make fighting a Klit, only that would contradict why he's been haggling and bickering over the purse cut for so long, which if that is the case, would make you question whether it was all a smoke screen, that he essentially doesn't have the plums to face Wlad cause he doesn't fancy his chances, only I dont believe that.

Also, if its purely about legacy, what legacy is he really leaving, the only legacy he will leave, will be of a decent to good CW champ who fought a few shot, not too good to begin with HW.

I dont buy it, Haye is trying to make Wlad sweat imo.

One quote stuck in my mind, leading up to the Harrison vs Haye showdown.

"All David Haye has ever wanted to do is fight, infront of a big crowd"

This quote was said by one of his old trainers as a teenager.

David Haye at heart is a showman, he craves the limelight. I don't think for one second he will let any of the Kiltschko's not fight him, i 100% know for a fact. That if David Haye is fit and healthy, he will fight the Kiltschko's some point next year................

 

Agree. I think Haye actually wants it more than Wlad, as he actually does fancy his chances of taking Wlad out, although I dont think he's as confident of taking VK out, which is why I think they specified they wanted him first.

I honestly believe that if David Haye takes a fight, he cannot lose. His attention to detail is on a totally different level during training camp, he is the most heavyierly conditioned Heavyweight in the game, in my opinion. He does not leave any stones unturned inside training camp, and he does not hide from his weaknesses. And most importantly, he does not lie to himself or try to convince himself.

When the day comes that David Haye has to lie to himself in training, and convince himself that he's performing how he wants to perform. Thats the day he will retire, but guess what...?

That day will never come, because David Haye will never let it get to that point. Where as great fighters in the past, fighters that ride the storm until the wheels fall off, until the sail of the ****ing ship snaps, fighters like Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield, James Toney, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roy Jones Junior, Bernard Hopkins.

David Haye is different from these guys......he's never gonna reach that point. Its not in his personality or make up as a fighter. He's far to calculated, he's far to logical. Where as them guys up above, think **** it, aslong as they are breathing, and their hearts still beating, and then can get through a training camp.........its game on...!

But that is not good enough for David Haye.

Thats why if David Haye takes a fight, he cannot lose


Many people might laugh at what i'm about to say, but if David Haye was going to lose any fight...............it was against Audley Harrison.
