Frank Maloney just said that on Setanta !

As Haye fan, I'm shocked that Haye backed up from a challenge and an immidiate title shot. Damn. Quite weird news.

Your thoughts ? Scared of Peter ? He is not taller and has suspect chin.

Haye wants NO PART of Peter, that would have been an extremely hard test for him emerging in to the division. He will talk all he wants but his promoters aren't stupid.

I remember during one of those shows Haye talked so much trash about Peter that even the guys discussing with him made fun of how slow Peter is and terrible. Peter responded during one of those shows and talked trash about Haye, basically told him to fight first and prove his self in the division before calling everyone bums and chumps. Peter also said that he's willing to give Haye a shot, no response was made to that and Peter moved on.

Haye won't take on a guy like Peter in his first fight, all this talk about wanting Wladimir immediately is pure bullcrap and I'm a fan of Haye. He's just doing business by promoting his future fights in a division that's desperate for a big name. Watch how much attraction will his fight with Barrett bring, Haye knows what he's doing and as he's ready for a title shot with either Wladimir/Povetkin winner or Vitali/Peter winner it's going to be on PPV and will make good money.

If he took on Peter as his first fight I would bet that he gets KO'd, he's just sending a message to all the champions out there that he's officially a part of the division to make a future fight with them big. It's all buisness and Haye is smart.

He wanted no parts of James Toney so I can see why he wants no parts of Sam. Sam was able to beat James pretty clearly the 2nd go round even thought James beat Sam clearly in the 1st meeting. Haye knows he needs to work himself up the ladder...the only reason why he wants Klit is b/c of his chin...all Dave has to do is land one time and it's nap time....with Peter and James they'll be there for the long haul.

Of course he will turn it down, all the trash talking from Haye is just making noise, you think he was serious to make an immediate fight with Wladimir when the trash talk started?

He's just making his mark by talking some trash, his next fight is the serious start for him in the division and the title shots will come soon.

If the fight with Barrett is such a big attraction, why isn't it being picked up by any of the major networks? HBO is showing Lacy/ Taylor on the same night, but Showtime doesn't have anything scheduled. I don't even think it is going to be offered via PPV in the states. For some reason, networks just don't give cruiserweights or former cruisers very much credence or clout.

Showtime did televise the unification bout with Enzo but didn't show the Mormeck fight, which surprised me.

I think people are just a little leary of attaching themselves to a Cruiser moving up in weight.

As much as Peter sucks, Haye wouldn't make it past round 6 of this fight before he got clubbed to the rear of his onion.

There's no money in a Haye vs. champion fight at this moment in time. Haye has to beat one or two challengers before the fight makes financial sense. So if a fight with Peter was proposed, it would have meant Peter getting his usual money, as he's the champion, whilst Haye would be the one to feel the effect of the lack of interest in the fight.

And after those fights with challengers, Haye will be in a position to challenge a champion himself. So it then comes down to either Klitschko or Peter.

Once a Haye vs. Peter fight would generate some interest, I have no doubt that Haye will take it. He's gunning for a heavier hitting more technically skilled fighter, who he has less chance of beating, so I don't think this is a case of Haye ducking Peter.

Haye like every fighter who laced gloves on knows his own limitations, Peter is a brutal clubbing puncher and a hard man to keep down.. Haye weighed the odds and wants to take a more viable route.. He is a bit more select..

If the major networks don't show any interest in picking it up now they will after the fight. My prediction on how many it will attract isn't really based on that, even though that really matters of course. It's the amount of discussions and talks surrounding the fight as it gets closer which will bring some serious attention. Let's face it, how many discussions have been made(not just on this forum) about who he plans to fight next?, there have been way too many discussions about it with many names being thrown here and there, even the fighters themselves stood up and started calling him out knowing that it will bring them good enough attention. It's after his performance next when the networks will be paying attention and it all depends on how he performs of course. My point is when he speaks he seems to be heard and given a lot of attention by writers and fans, he has the ability to do that and as he stays active it will boost his name higher and the major networks will be drawn to him anyway. He knows the division is weak so do others and when someone explosive hits the scene(if he proves to be of course) then they will be all over it, he already proved he can talk now it's time to prove what he can do in the ring. Please note that he already had one heavyweight fight before.
