He might not have been the most talented but he tested Lennox Lewis and he won a world title, also he had some serious power.
harsh appraisal.....a tremendous athlete who would hold at least one of the titles today.....not the best for sure, but far from the worst...bruno makes top ten heavyweight in most generations...
I agree. Bruno went in with Tyson twice and did well the first time. Also did well against Lewis. I'd give him a good chance of stopping Haye.
Until I see more of Haye at heavyweight, my pick is Bruno by KO. Bruno was a good fighter and he had a lot of power.
i do think haye might make a big noise at hw, he certainly is gonna be in exciting fights, win, lose or draw...but big frank was, for a long time, the real thing..he had big limitations, but also massive power...in fact, i think his power is in the top 5 all time....... i get pissed off when people are derogatory about a guy who was a genuine british world champion, who won and lost his title in the ring and who fought all comers, a guy who was always in fantastic shape, and, in reality, a guy who maybe went further than he should have on grit and determination....big frank was, as i stated, a fantastic natural athlete..he was never a natural fighter...and that small difference was enough to stop him beating the biggest manes of his generation, but his power, conditioning and training ethic got him through againts almost everyone else.... ..its hard to pick haye vs bruno now, cos we saw bruno in his prime, but, for me, we havent seen haye at his yet.....i hate to say it, but unless bruno tagged haye early, haye may well be the kind of oponent who would give bruno (and most of todays hw contenders..) fits....mobile, elusive and powerful.....only drawback is that i think bruno would only have to catch haye clean ONCE and it would be party over.....
Bruno's only chance woud if he could hit Haye flush but i think he would be too slow for him and would take some bombs before the ref stops it for his own safety
its hard to give opinion on this because haye has only had one fight at heavy against tomas bonin who is a mediocre fighter. bruno went in with the best and he has some good names on his record of wins, he was a big puncher but always seemed to run out of gas( 6th round onwards) , he gave lewis a good contest and he did ok against tyson the first time.
nah i was stamina easily. his chin was pretty solid for a heavywieght he just didnt know how to defend himself. against lewis he wasnt knocked off his feet after a huge combonation form a huge puncher all flush on his chin. against tyson he was still on his feet. but if you ever see him after 6 rounds he just became so weak. against mcCall he totally out jabbed and outmuscled him for the first 8 rounds then just ran and clinched with his mouth wide wide wide open taking in every bit of air his lungs could carry. this was always his weakness his chin was only exposed when he couldnt lift his arms to protect his chin. haye is also a bit weak on the stamina side but for what i have seen from him (at cruiser mind) he keeps moving and keeps fighting.
