Agree with that. It was his reckless nature that caused him to get knocked out mostly. The same abandon that was his strength at times worked against him there. As well as the fact he has no real change up. I think he could have easily seen the final bell with a little more sense though, but frustration seemed to contribute to the way he was diving in. Against Pac he was just ******ed though. Maybe his punch resistance was on the wain too.
I am not for one minute suggesting that Hatton would ever win a round off Mayweather. But he could have been a smarter with what he was trying to do. Anyway, that's beside the point. Haye has very obvious weaknesses and Maccarinelli does punch hard. There were times when Maccarinelli really boxed well behind his jab and could have posed some problems. But at the end of the day, Haye was far too athletic and quick.
Thing is............... In the build up to that fight............... When you saw Haye get bossed around the ring by little Frogemeni - close to tears with blood gushing from his face. You just think - a banger like Maccarinelli - could take him clean out.
Fragomeni was a proper hard ******* though. Very compact, tight guard, walks his opponent down. Limited but game, these types can trouble Haye as Haye likes to fight at his own pace. If he's under pressure he can be forced into mistakes and flustered. That kind of 2+2 logic doesn't always work in boxing. There was never really any possibility or even suggestion that Enzo was capable of the toughness required to walk down Haye like that. Even when people were saying he'd win it was basically all about him banging Haye out with a couple of hooks or something.
Just rewatched the fight - Haye was quite honest about the cut, he was struggling to see and lost his composure briefly. He had it back by the next round and started to hurt Fragomeni. Also, while Haye clearly wasn't enjoying the pace, it never looked like he was struggling. It's just a load of bollocks to suggest he was in trouble when he'd won at least four of the first six rounds.
Haye's finish against enzo was awesome , such quick hands , let's hope he still has that speed against wlad!
Basically something along the lines of................... He trained Enzo for the fight - all them weeks - believing they could win. But on the night - Enzos "bottle" - his "ass" - completely went - he totally **** himself. And so Haye just beat on a scared little rabbit. Enzo Calzaghe basically - said he cannoy give Haye credit for the win - because Enzo condemened himself that night - before the fight had began. Enzo Macc - did everything right in the build up to the fight. * He wore a smart suit - to the annucement of the fight (and took note Haye was in a more causual hat and t-shirt) *Enzo told us - he would give us 12 of the most brutal rounds we have ever witnessed. *Enzo promised he wanted to be more than just the glamour boy of his town - and he would punch a hole in Hayes head. *Enzo trained in the cold gym in Wales - sparring Gavin Rees - while Haye was in warm cosy - holiday place Miami - realxing on the beach. *Enzo turned up for the final press conference - in a cool hat (like Haye did in the 1st press conference) - but Haye was still in bed. *Enzo stared Haye out at the weigh in. *Joe Calzaghe said Enzo was bang on - and ready to KO Haye. Then the big night came and when Enzo Calzaghes W Reg Vauxhall People Carrier pulled up outside the O2 arena.....................Enzos ass completely went. :conf
