Haye v Fury - PPV worthy?

lol haye a fraud a heavyweight, yes he is unfortante to be at a time where he is so dwarfed in size by mostly freakishly big eastern europeans however his opponents in the last 6 fights have included kliticho (in germany) valuev (in germany) and ruiz , sure he has fought chisora and harrison but he is entitled to make a living taking marketable fights that earn him high reward for low risk when he is also taking on the best in the divison away from home.
imo a fraud is a fighter who takes soft fights easy mandatorys supplied by the board who are only concerned about there fees and always fights at home none of this can be applied to haye

 

I've already had casuals on to me about this fight, it is going to be huge. Easily ppv worthy.

 

Nonsense it there was no PPV the same fights would happen for less money thats all.

I take your point about him fighting abroad, but he was the challenger against both Valuev and Wlad so he had to as he no other options. He has let the fans down so many times on ppv and the toe excuse was pathetic esp after shouting the odds about how he was going to smash Wlad etc and then did nothing for the whole fight.

I'm disappointed it's PPV. There was never a doubt that this would be PPV.

The amount of money it was going to take for Fury to step up and take a Boxing lesson, the only way to fund both the ego's in this fight was PPV. no PPV and I don't think this fight happens. I'd rather this fights takes place though.

 

This has all the ingredients of a PPV fight.

Haye and Fury, more often than not, are involved in exciting fights.

You also have two big personalities that capture the public's imagination.

People are willing to pay to be entertained and this fight will deliver that.

 

There's a buzz to this fight so is no surprise it's ppv looking at the way things are going. What is apparent now though is the business model Sky are working to with their boxing. It's all about who can deliver the instant bang and with there only being Eddie there he has no leeway to be able to build fighters.

I tuned into Ringside tonight hoping to see a fairly in depth preview of Saturday's Hull bill but it barely got a cursory mention at the end!! I know Haye-Fury is a big deal but it's not until the end of Sept and they took the whole f*ckin hour up with it.

 

I won't be paying.

 

I don't think the rest of the world considers this a "monster ppv fight," but it is rightfully an attraction in the UK: two colorful fighters, one one his way up, one seeking to show he's still a factor, they will hype this to the heavens and it's for bragging rights in the UK as to who the best heavy is.

In the U.S., there are some hardcore boxing fans (the type who post on this forum and others) who might plunk down a few bills to see it, but if I asked a dozen of my friends who are casual fans they hardly know who Fury and Haye are. Those who know Haye know only about his big toe excuse and Tyson might be a guy they know of as a big white guy who does funny things on the internet.

I won't presume to venture as to how much interest in there is in Europe outside of England, but I don't gather it's must-see TV over there.

 

These casual fans who "hardly know who Fury and Haye are"... I take it they are not part of either the 10 million I'm a Celeb viewers OR the 3 mil who watch Channel 5 boxing at its peak? In terms of mainstream recognition they are, at worst, two of the 10 biggest boxing stars in this country and they fight in the same division. If Sky were likely to release the figures I'd bet a huge stake (or a huge steak) on this clearly out-selling Froch-Kessler. The potential market for this fight trancends the hardcore fanbase and as such is far larger. You can argue against ppv in general but the paying public will decide with their cash if this is ppv 'worthy' or not.
