Ruiz was a solid fighter a few years back but now he is basically an aging part-time heavyweight. He still should give Haye some trouble but Haye has to be a big favorite here. The big question should be will Haye get the ko or not. Ruiz from a few years back would have made this a more even fight but not now. Hopefully, this is the last we see of Ruiz on tv or in any more important fights. Haye by UD.
I think King pushed Ruiz as part of an elaborate bet. "Either I can make John Ruiz into one of the most successful boxers of all time or you have to hunt down the species of electric eel that gave me this hair..."
Haye never fought someone like Ruiz, while Ruiz fought stronger treats. Haye's lack of stamina will be exposed again.
This is probably going to be a close fight. Maybe not exciting but we will see how good Haye is when he is not fighting a guy who is a foot taller and 90 pounds heavier. I think Ruiz will make it tough and close. I do not know who wins just yet. My gut says Haye in a close 12 rounder. Like most of Ruiz'es fights close.
Just like Klitschko said he was going to do to Hate. Punish him for the whole fight then KO him in the 12th.
Would be good for Haye if this was on free terrestrial TV. The Valuev fight got him a lot of publicity but also left a lot of people on the fence. Here in the UK I know a lot of guys who have only bothered watching Hatton & maybe Khan since Lewis retired, yet tuned in to Haye/Valuev as the freak show angle pulled them in. Afterwards they weren't exactly blown away by Haye and aren't about to buy another PPV but at least now they have heard of him. Haye should be trying to get this fight seen by as many people as possible, even if it means a smaller payday. A good fight and spectacular win would really gain him a massive PPV market for the Klitschko fight (hopefully) next. There's lots of people out there who are now aware of Haye but not interested enough to dip in to thier wallets just yet. Given the Klit's previously wanted to split PPV income by country Haye could really do with drumming up as much domestic interest as he can. My feeling is that a terrestrial TV showcase against Ruiz would probably more than make up for it with a massive boost to the PPV figures for a Klit fight. Of course....this only works if Haye beats Ruiz - and does it in style. Obviously Ruiz won't take a pay vut for Haye's benefit but at least in the UK they should think about dumping PPV for this one.
A decent heavyweight. Ruiz is a fraud, a talentless glorified clubfighter who got where he is because of his connections to powerful promoters. And he doesn't have the power to take advantage of Haye's chief weakness.
If he is to be a good heavyweight champion he should be able to beat Ruiz. I think he has a chance to stop Ruiz.
Yeah you'd have to say if there is one thing that Don King can do for you as a fighter it is get you multiple cracks at the WBA heavywieght championship of the World. I guess that farce is over now though. Ruiz has done very well with Don King. He's a very talented fighter but definintely not an elite heavywieght. I look at himas a better version of Mormeck and a way better version of Fragomenii. He could supprise people. That being said styles wise this should be a David Haye Whippout. Personally, I like haye as a fighter and so I root for him but as a person I find him too insulting for my liking.
