There is little doubt, that at 40, Toney is clearly removed from his prime. His massive amount of talent however allows him - IF PROPERLY TRAINED - to still compete with the very best hw out there. No dissrespect to Toney, but this speaks volumes about the poor state of the division...

Hayes too young, mobile with more power.Toney, older out of shape his good defensive skills won`t be enough. My money would be on Haye to win definately.

David Haye has great accomplishments at HW so far. He has 2 fights, and based on quality of his opponents (Tomasz Bonin and Monte B.) he has already beaten somebody in top 100. Plus he possesses a big mouth which sometimes will get you a title shot quicker then a ko.
Personally I think he is a fraud and would loose badly to Toney

    whatever you say, shittyzal..

btw, the Blades statement wasn't even about Toney - it was about Haye deserving a title-shot after beating a 2008 version of Barrett. I'm not surprised you think that's enough to deserve a shot.

Toney is not an elite heavy at this moment.

When did I even hint the Barrett win was enough to warrant a title shot?? Your blind love of Toney prevents you from even reading people's posts properly.

Dimitrenko would be a perfect opponent for Haye in preperation for a title shot. Maybe Ibragimov. If Thompson impresses against Toney he'll be an ok comparison.

At this age I'm not sure Toney can take Haye. Toney at his best at Heavyweight could be trouble, but he hasn't been at his best in some time.

haye is not proven at heavy yet.

needs at least 3 fights to grow into the division.

james toney would be a great test .

it would test his stamina/abilty and power.

and also there are very few heavys which haye could fight that have less power than toney.

to me its a win win fight for haye.

I agree with you that Toney would be a great test as he would test Hayes stamina. We all know that Haye has power, also at HW, but that won't have much of an effect on Toney, yes, not even on a faded Toney. Haye would have to outwork and outhustle Toney with his superior speed.

It's not a win-win situation for Haye because after all his talking he'd risk losing to a 40 year old, out of shape former MW. Of course we know that Toney's a legend but that's just how the mainstream public would conceive a possible loss. And if Haye would beat Toney he'd get a lot of respect from me but the casual fans would still give him **** for beating up a shot, old former MW. That's how it is. This fight is too risky with low reward, that's why smart David Haye doesn't want it.

toney schools him. haye is fast but not fast enough to toy with toney, and toney himself is fast for a heavy.

How can anyone seriously pick Toney in a fight with Haye? Those who dislike or hate Haye created fallacies with all kinds of loopholes to make his skills and accomplishments seem like they're less than they are.

At this stage in Toney's career, I think Haye would TKO Toney by round 6 in a one sided beating. This is a fight that would do nothing for Haye's career. I hope for his sake and the fans sake he moves on to more threatening opponents!

Personally, I'd like to see Haye in the ring with Dimitrenko, Arreola, and even Sam Peter. At least they're all under 30 and in some way pose a threat to Haye. Toney's a waste of time.
