800,000 seems very very high. Didnt Hatton v PBF do 900,000 and that fight had a lot more buzz than the Haye fight.

Carl Froch must be looking at these numbers and wondering where he is going wrong. As many people have said before Sky may not be everyone's cup of tea but they know how to market and sell fights.

Also David Haye knows how to play the game. He knows PPV’s dont sell themselves. He knows how to promote himself and get himself over.

Someone once told me that Hart's hair is, in fact, a wig :scaredas: Bloody good one if it is, must have cost a fortune! :rofl

Well done David Haye for such PPV figures. He sold the fight extremely well and if anyone can sell a fight against John Ruiz to the masses it will be him. (Just imagine that nearly a million people might actually pay £15 to see a John Ruiz fight at some point next year :yikes)

What, worse than Primo Carnera, Bruce Seldon, John Ruiz, Oleg Maskaev, Chris Byrd?? Valuev was ordinary but the worse of all time? The man is a fool.

That really is an insane number for a fight at 4.30am.

What did Hatton v Pacquiao do?

really. Thats so much lower. Surprised by that. Why do you think that was? Hatton lose his buzz after the PBF fight? PBF a bigger draw over here than people think? Hatton v PBF had some 'heat' between the fighters where people wanted to see the 'heel' PBF get Ko'ed while Hatton and Pacman were v friendly toward seach other?

And the old fart picked Valuev to win big, so that tells you what he thinks about Haye.

boxing/boxers just have so many forces working against it, even within the industry. :-(

I thought Hatton vs Pac did better than 300k......

I'd say 800k for a primetime HW title fight for a guy like Haye sounds about right, bearing in mind Hatton vs Floyd did 1.3m on US hours - either of those two are better known in the UK than Haye and Valuev put together.

We shouldn't expect the Ruiz fight to do as well, he isn't the freak attraction that Valuev is, and the reaction to the fight has been mixed.

When he beats Ruiz, it is likely that a K-bro will be next - which could do huge numbers.

    -----------

As previous posters have said, Carl Froch must wonder where the **** he has gone wrong...... and on Colin Hart saying that Valuev is the worst champ ever....

If you count the early WBO ones - Michael Bentt must be right up there.

I think the number just goes to show that boxing has suffered greatly due to the HW being a pile of crap. Casuals like to see big guys punching each other and its no surprise that there was a downturn in the sport when the HW really bottomed out.

If it did only do 300K then it was probably a combination of all those things, especially Mayweather acting like a *****.

Hence why he does it. I know people dont like to see antics you see in pro-wrestling but whether its pro-wrestling, boxing or MMA casual fans buy into characters.
