Booth really had no idea what he was doing according to Wlad. He didnt know much about contracts and negotiations. Wlad said it was like dealing with a guy who had never done this before. They would talk about things and Booth wouldnt know the meanings of terms and certain words regarding contracts and such. A very GREEN guy if you will. The worst according to Wlad was things would change daily. or worse after things were agreed to and they were on to a different subject, Booth would go back to items long since agreed to and want to change things... sometimes 3-4 times on the same subject. Wlad said it seemed like they just really didnt know what they wanted. IMO Booth and Haye were "Nice guys" in the beginning to get the brothers to the table then all hell broke lose.
Cheers, fascinating insight. One thing that I have noticed that their promotional company have done absolutely nothing for their fighters since the TV deal went with Setanta and there are some decent fighters getting ****ed about there.
great analysis and sadly, probably true. haye does not want to BE the best as much as he wants people to THINK he's the best. if he could be claimed to be the #1 heavy in the world without fighting the klits, he'd do it in a heart beat. does anyone REALLY believe he wants to fight them for glory/status/honour, etc.? he wants money and he wants people to think he's the best. that's it.
Why Ruiz won't try going for another belts if he gets robbed against Valuev all the time? Let's say WBC or IBF by fighting the Klitschkos or retire. Those court cases are endless and damage boxing.
That would be so hilarious. If Haye ended up giving up 50% of his purse to Ruiz while Haye was crying how the Klitz were so "greedy" and he couldn't make any money and how "generous" Valuev's camp was
Going back to the original point, about the WBA not announcing whether the belt is on the line or not, they could just be leaving it late to announce it IS on the line so Ruiz won't have as much time for any legal challenges. I'm a Haye fan in that I like to see him fight but I understand people who think he's been a dick recently. Even so you'd think the WBA would be happy to have him fight for their title, he has more potential star quality than any of the others in their circle jerk and that would probably result in higher sanctioning fees for them.
Not really sure what is wrong with everyone's mental faculties here. This isn't a tough one to figure out. It's the WBA. They currently only have one champion at heavyweight (not a position the organisation likes to have happen at any weight). Both the WBA interim heavyweight title and the WBA heavyweight champion in recess title are currently sitting vacant. The chance of Valuev/Haye not being for the world title while Ruiz fights for another of these prestigious WBA titles is zero percent at this point.
I hope the WBA lets this fight be for the WBA belt, Chagaev already lost in a nontitle match, so it appears Valuev is WBA champion.
Wlad is the WBA Champ anyways. Chagaev beat Valuev, Wlad beat Chagaev... end of story. We don't need a bunch of crooks to toss the belt back to Valuev, and then tell us what fights are for the "real" WBA title. It's ****in' ridiculous. The WBA means NOTHING right now.
and that it exactly why we wont see the WBA involved in unification. The WBA would NOT sanction the Wlad Chagaev fight although Chagaev did have part of the belt. You watch, Haye wins the belt and the WBA wont sanction a unification fight with a Klitschko and Haye will be blaming the brothers for it in the media. The WBA is a joke and they prove it with EVERY move they make:deal The WBA and Haye deserve eachother
Ruiz got robbed twice and will get robbed forever, can't help but admire the man for trying all the way. Only assholes would insult him for it when they know he got robbed.
If the WBA doesn't recognize it as a title fight, Haye will effectively talked himself out of 2 title fights and then found himself in a fight in which a victory makes him property of Don King and a loss leaves him without a title, without any bargaining tools for future fights, and without anywhere to go except to the place where he should have started, the back of the line. Those cruiserweight glory days seem so long ago. Glory days which weren't all that glorious to begin with considering he beat a shot Mormeck for the title and unified against a chinny paper champ in Maccarinelli.
No-one knows. But last time he fought a King fighter for belts his next fght was against a Frank Warren fighter for another belt. I'm sure people will tell you he will be defending against bums in England once he beats Valuev though.
