Nobody will weep. I think he has a great chance of winning, but the question becomes: what then? Who will he fight then? And where?

It looks pretty certain that the first mandatory defense is scheduled to take place before April 2010 as mandated by the WBA. The official challenger is John Ruiz.

After April, the window for a voluntary defense is opening. It is highly likely that Sauerland/King will push one of their men as a challenger for late Summer/Fall of 2010. E.g. Brewster is promoted by Sauerland and rated #10 by the WBA. Other likely candidates would be Austin WBA #8 (King) or Meehan #3 (King). Throw in the odd rematch, maybe against Valuev or maybe a rematch with Ruiz should the fight be close.

Is this the type of fights the Haye fans have been waiting for? Is this the type of career Haye has been promising when he proclaimed

David Haye: "I Am Doing This For Dempsey, Marciano, Louis, Ali, Frazier And All The Other Great, Smaller heavyweights!":lol::lol:

Haye will have to defend against Ruiz i guess but after that he can fight who he wants and thats when i see the Wlad fight happening.

If Haye ends up fighting the pointless WBA chumps you mentioned after taking care of Ruiz he will lose a hell of alot of fans including myself.

But im pretty confident the Wlad fight will happen next year as long as they both keep winning.

The problem with fighting Wlad (when under obligations to Sauerland/King) is that Sauerland/King will only "offer" the WBA belt to the brothers if K2 grants them co-promotional rights of subsequent bouts should they win the WBA belt. That's the point that all the Klitschko-Valuev negotiations fell apart over (according to Bernd Bönte, K2 manager).

Allegedly, Sauerland/King is not willing to risk the WBA belt in a unification (=voluntary, not mandatory) bout unless they retain a piece of the WBA belt, co-promoting the winner.

Hence I only see Haye fighting Wlad (if ever) once he fulfills all contractual obligations to Sauerland/King. Obviously, Haye will have to win all of his fights (let's say Valuev plus one mandatory in Ruiz plus one voluntary against a Sauerland/King guy like Austin/Brewster), then he's free from his obligations and can grant a unification bout under his own terms rather than his co-promoters. Plus Wlad has to win against Chambers, Povetkin and then some voluntary.

Then, maybe in late 2011, after both men have to win a series of three fights each, a unification bout could happen. And even then, the negotiations have to be successful. They weren't easy now, I doubt they will be much easier then. I think all this makes it far from likely that we will ever see Wlad fight Haye, not to speak of Vitali who will likely be retired by 2011.

King owns Valuev (50%) and King let not fight any boxer against him without options. Sauerland takes them and Don King too.

Kind and Sauerland, both will have options on David Haye. He should read his contract :deal:deal He had time to pull out :D

This is silly. Is the WBA saying Chagaev is still their champion?

Nah I think the problem is Ruiz having a *****, even though he hasn't fought since losing to Valuev.

How are we supposed to know what the options would be? We're not in the room when the contracts are finalized. We don't know the specifics of the contracts. We just know that Don King is involved somehow and unless you've been living under a rock for the last 30 some odd years you'd know that Don King is one of if not the most crooked promoter in the sport. Having Sauerland on board isn't exactly a great thing either. Look how he forced Holyfield on Valuev who clearly wanted no part of that fight and fought as such.

The whole thing is absolutely ridiculous. David Haye complained about what the Klitschkos were offering after doing absolutely nothing to even merit getting a shot at either one of them. He then runs to King and Sauerland. That's like going to a mob boss to help you settle a neighborhood dispute. Sure, the boss will help you but you're pretty much in debt to him from here on out. The guy stops Macarinelli in 2, a guy with no chin to speak of, and he thinks he's God's gift to boxing.

You're still not telling us what are the options? What's in the contract? Don't keep it all to yourself, tell us!
