I agree with that entirely. It would leave a hollow feeling if Haye did beat Vitali, bit not for the WBC belt. It would also mean a potential fight with Wladimir would not be a unification. To be perfectly honest I feel the whole thing is a little ****ed up.

Haye should fight another contender, and leave Wlad and Vitali to fight their mandatories. He should then fight Wlad in Summer 09, while Vitali tries his utmost to unify with WBA. Unlikely at first glance, but money talks I think, and as they are both big in Germany, Sauerland might just let it happen. Cash in on Valuev who will get beat sooner or later anyhow. Plus, that was the Klitshscko dream wasn't it.... two belts each simultaneously?

If then Haye was to beat Wladimir, it sets up a super-mega-fight with Vitali, for all 4 belts. Salivating prospect, which when you think about it, could have happened.

Haye and Wlad won't happen in Summer 09. Povetkin is taking a warm up fight in March, and Wlad will likely do the same in April. IBF has order the Mandatory to take place no later than Mid September.

**** what we think, or who we think Vit/Wlad should be facing. Its not up to us, and it certainly isn't up to those idiots at the sanctioning bodies....these guys will fight whoever brings most money to the table, and that is not Gomez or Maskaev. In this ABC world, belts mean jack ****.

I bet they'l rethink that, cause the WBC, the most pretigous of the big three, is something Vitali wants to retire with.

I guess we shall see. I expect they are now trying to convince Suliaman (who Vitali has influence on) to allow Haye Vitali to go on, and for the title, and Gomez get the winner.

That's my take on it, anyway.........But there must be something they are trying to work out, cause we've not heard any input on what the WBC will do regarding GOmez..

In the overall big picture, they mean nothing, I agree.

But in the K Brothers' goal to physically possess them all, they do mean something. I highly doubt Sdunek realy meant it when he said they'd fight with or without the WBC's approval. I think that was a scare tactic to get Suliaman to agree, as Suliamna knows Vitali Haye fighting for their title would boost its clout, and stipping it away from Vitlai and giving it to the Oleg Gomez winner would make it lose alot of credibility. Suliaman knows that, and I expect he'll let Haye Vitlai go on for the title, even if its not fair to Gomez. But even if he is currently going to have to wait, at least Gomez will be then the first to challenge for it. That's my take on it, anyway.

As Klitschko's manager has already stated, the fight will happen in june whether it be for the belt or not, he said the Haye fight is bigger than having that belt so its going to happen, no doubt.
