Haye showed a very impressive tactical fight against Valuev running as fastly as Ottke did in his prime and now and then connecting with a few punches. Haye has pop in his fists as could be seen in the last round vs Valuev.First time I saw that an opponent was able to wobble the behemoth that badly. But how would Haye fare against an opponent who is as quick as himself and who has very telling firepower as well.Someone like Denis Boytsov for example.
Boytsov can take a punch, but whether he can take Haye's best shot is unknown. It is 100% known that Haye can not take Boytsov's punch, Denis has enough pop to knock him out cold with a single punch. He's quick enough to land it as well, both foot and hand speed, so Haye can't just run. My money is on Denis.
Haye's chin is untested at HW. I think at Cruiser a lot of his KD's had a lot to do with stanima issues and him killing himself to make the 200lb limit so his chin should be better now that hes at cruiser, but whether it is strong enough to survive a HW shot i am doubtful about. If Haye really can't take a half decent shot of a HW then it will be the quicker HW's that will give Haye the most problems...fighters like Boytsov or even the less harder hitting, but very quick Chambers. Haye has immense talent but if his chin is as weak as some think, then he will be in the same boat as Amir Khan were by he will have to fight the perfect fight each time out to keep on winning.
Boystov isn't that big and isn't even a puncher, or doesn't really look like it, and he sucks anyway.
Boystov's even less proven than Haye. Haye looks more athletically talented (quicker, better hand speed, probably more powerful too) of the two, but both are unproven as top level heavyweights.
Who's the last world-class guy he knocked out with one punch? The Bidenko stoppage looks great on paper until you see the fight. It took a flush 4 or 5 punch combination to hurt Bidenko, and then he threw another 20 punches - a lot of which landed - or so and still couldn't put him down as Bidenko tied up, that is until Taras got slashed with a uppercut-hook style shot and fell ridiculously like a sack of potatoes.
That's the point, I don't think Haye is world class at HW. His chin is very weak, and you'll eat a punch at some point against the quicker guys. I think the Bidenko and Gavern fights show how much power Denis has. Btw. Virchis didn't knock Bidenko out cold either, and we all know he has power.
That's true - and until I see the fight which I've yet to do seeing as it doesn't seem to exist anywhere - then I can't make a firm comment. But what I will bring up is styles again, yes it's a cliché, but it's true. Virchis is extremely slow, Boystov isn't. I'm inclined to believe that Virchis was probably never in the position in that fight at all to throw 20-25 punches unreplied against Bidenko as Boystov was.
How did he kill himself to make CW? Even with months of bulking up he's only 17 pounds over the limit. Given that most fighters cut 15 pounds for a fight, he could still make CW with no problems...
Sorry, but this post is so ill-informed it's unbelievable. You think he spent all those months adding muscle? Not that he may of taken a break and tried worked on his stamina or anything else? There is no way Haye could make cruiserweight now. There's a big difference in cutting 15lbs of body fat and 15lbs of muscle and water-weight. If Haye did miraculously somehow make CW still, he'd be weight-drained beyond belief.
As I said elsewhere, I think he'd have problems with that type. I wouldn't necessarily favor Boytsov because there are too many unknowns, but I think Solis would beat him if they matched up in the pros, and I think Povetkin would get him eventually.
