If the man is really that confident in his speed, power, ability and heterosexuality, why not agree to a winner take all fight? Make it for all the marbles.
I've had a lot of back and forward thinking about this fight. At first I thought Haye was afraid, especially when he backed out of both fights. But to be honest, I think he's just being realistic. The deal was to fight Wlad then Vitali, with no fights in between. He knows full well he may lose to Wlad, and lose heavily. Same with Vitali. If that happened his career would be over. I think he took the Harrison fight as a big pay day before getting it on with the Klitschko's, which will be Haye's endgame.
I hate this mentality. Is Chagaev's career over? Was Peter's over the first time he fought Wlad? Thompson? Chambers? Vitali when he lost to Lennox? They went and challenged themselves. If they lost, so be it, go beat other boxers to climb the mountain again. Muhammed Ali with today's boxing mentality would've retired in 1971 after losing to Joe Frazier in their first fight. Povetkin (along with Haye) is a clear case example of why boxing has gone to sh*t, although I hold Povetkin in lower regard than I do Haye. He has a zero on his record but in reality he pretty much forfeited to Wlad. Boxing fans in general are such morons that wrap themselves up in a guy having the potential to do something if he never took a fight instead of actually watching him fight. I think sometimes boxing fans especially on this message board enjoy bullsh*ting about their fighter more than watching him fight, because if he actually fought there's the chance he might lose and then they can't keep stating all their bullsh*t because they'd've been proven wrong. Does David Haye honestly believe that if he loses to Wlad or Vitali, no one in Britain are going to pay to watch him fight other top heavyweight boxers?
I agree with Flynn Ryan. I'm not sure why boxers are supposed to retire after losing a championship fight. Wasn't Wlad supposed to retire after Brewster?
I agree with this, but Haye was in another situation and figured out a way to (ab)use that in his favour. Haye was hyped to heavens, and has/had a country behind him. Found a way to make a lot of money over the backs of his countymen and the boxingfans in a relatively short period of time. If he had fought Wladimir the first time he would have had a lousy payday (setanta went over) and would be "just another K brother victim". He would have had to fight his way up again, with real opponents this time, meaning risky fights, fighting regurlary, takes a few years to get back on top and then what? Finding out that the only way you get another shot at a "real" belt is fighting one of the brothers again. He milked his hyoe and WBA strap for everything it's worth, while some of his countymen still believe in him after everything he has done. I think he did a good job. but I hate him for it because it damages the sport.
Because it's the real world. Suppose he gets cut from a headbutt and loses on the scorecards after 6 rounds? Suppose the ref stops it prematurely after a Vitali 3 punch combo? Suppose the judges get it horribly wrong on the scorecards and award the fight to Vitali after Haye outboxes him (unlikely but imagine)
Winner takes all is ridiculous. The could do 45-45 split with the extra 10 going to the winner. I dont know why that doesnt happen more often...
sure i posted sumit similar to this already!.lol but ye,good idea,if they cant sort out their 50/50 revenue squabling then bring out the same contract that made the bhop v jones 2 fight that took like a decade to get made!. winner by KO gets sweet bonus. winner gets slightly more and loser slightly less. winner gets more of the spilit in revenue than if they would lose. have it neutral america on hbo in vegas or madison square garden. or even somewhere like manilla again!. even neutral judges.
