Haye vs Bellew

Think the thing people are forgetting is sure its on a Sunday night. Very odd choice. Would be surprised if that doesn't effect the ppv numbers. People don't generally break off for Christmas till around the 23rd or so.

 

It's defo a gamble at that time of year. Hearn must think it will sell he was desperate to fit it in this year. For me people will be skint/saving up for the last push to Xmas and a fight that is nothing more than a grudge match might not sell second time around. Haye is finished. An athlete who relies on speed and power isn't going to do well past 35 with the injuries he's had. If he tries to box Bellew and scrapes points decision it's hardly the shot in the arm his career needs - altho it will get him another decent fight. The writings on the wall for Haye. Bellew just needs to do what he did last time be patient stay upright and take chances when openings arise.

 

Remember Hearn said the first fight did more PPV buys than all of Anthony Joshua's at the time.

So mst of been at least 600k. Even if this fight does 400k ppv buys it would be a raging success. Love or hate him Bellew has done very well on ppv.

 

It's more to do with Haye,75%,Bellew has found the right partner,against Cleverly it was poor.The trashtalking clearly worked for the first fight.Intresting that Haye has always been a draw on PPV.Even the stinkers against Klitschko,Harrison,Ruiz,probably done 200k minimim,because of how he trash talks so well.The second one with Bellew i think will get good buys again.

 

It's not all Haye. Bellew doing over 200k ppv vs cleverly says a lot.

I said at the time that Bellew's fight at Goodison was huge. That fight put Bellew over big time. Made him a star.

 

The press conferences in the build up last time were comedy gold especially the one in Liverpool. They should be included in the ppv.

 

Even it it does 200k buys that's 200 times as many as the Parker Fury world title fight.

 

That almost certainly helped with the attractiveness to the casual fans,also the first press confrence with Haye punching him.Got over 1m views on Social Media,i expect Haye to boil over again,when getting close to fight night,i think it will do 400k minimum.

 

With respect, none of us know the exact reason why people chose to buy the PPV. The fact is, they bought it. Haye vs some Eastern European tin can doesn’t sell. Bellew vs some South American cardboard cutout doesn’t sell. Haye vs Tony Bellew sells massively. It’s the blend of fighters rather than the individual.

 

I can't understand the fact that even amongst the casual fans there's more distain towards the rematch. Surely people should want to see what will happen if injury doesn't ruin the fight. It gives Bellew the chance to prove he would have won anyway and Haye a chance to set the record straight. It's far more interesting to me than the first one. I didn't want to see it at all first time around. Perhaps they may be realising that all the inevitable future trash talking could actually be fake considering they were so respectful after the fight.

I agree it may not do as good numbers because it's a Sunday. Why did he choose this?

I break up the Friday before the fight this year so that's good and I've got a freakishly organised gf who's virtually sorted everyone's presents already so luckily I won't be struggling for money too much. I'll welcome my Christmas in with a heavy one in town for this I think.
