WBO International & WBA Intercontinental. http://boxrec.com/title_search.php?title=WBAINT&division=Heavyweight&SUBMIT=Go Though the WBO one has just been invented for this fight. I definitely remember Frank actually saying sometime during the build up months that those titles are on the line specifically so it would be a 12 round fight. Which makes it even more ****ish.
Well surely it is a good thing, that these 'titles' get 'devalued slightly' by losing their 12 round status? Whenever ever I went to show in the 80s or 90s, unless it was a WBC, British, European or Commonwealth title fight, I knew it was a 10 rounder, and was perfectly happy with that. All non title and minor title fights should not be over the full championship distance. And as much as I long for 15 rounders to come back, that is very unlikely, thus these fights should rightly be over 10 rounds.
Did you notice the link? Every other fight for WBA inter-c has been 12 round fights. Surprisingly has quite a few big names that's held the title too. Dokes Rudduck Both Klitschko's Valuev Chagaev
Yes, thanks, hence my point that it is good that they are devaluing the title. As much as I dislike the alphabet organizations, the idea surely is to aspire to win the full WBA crown, not be happy with an Intercontinental version? Thus as a 'lesser title' it should not be over the championship distance of this era. Also as your link shows, there is a precedent for the ten round distance (Valuev/Bango).
LMFAO thats the inter-continental belt. Saturday's is not for that one, it's for the International heavyweight belt, defended only last month by renowned Pole, Andrzej Wawrzyk :happy
, i was planning on putting money on dereck at 66/1 in the 11th and 12th on PP the other day, said id wait until after weigh in to make all my bets
When Haye signed up for the fight it was a non title ten round fight, to beef up the legitimacy of the fight the WBO and WBO Baubles were added. Haye obviously has a contract and he wishes to stick to that.
