There is plenty of money in this and Haye is good at making money, unfortunately for Tyson, Haye can spot a KO waiting to happen like the rest of us. Furys team will never allow this fight to happen but Tyson would take the fight in a heartbeat IMO.
I honestly think you'd be looking at 10 million, or thereabouts. If shitty reality shows can pick up 8 million each on ITV and BBC on a Saturday night then that should be a very doable number.
If Channel 5 put a bit of effort into it and maybe show a couple of press conferences, build up shows, weigh in, etc I think it could do more than that. Imagine if it got 13-15 million viewers, what a statement that would be to show what boxing can do.
Before Big Brother, channel 5 highest viewing figures were around 5.5 million for England footy qualifiers. Not sure what BB draws but it is super expensive - 200 million for two years (obviously for a shitload of shows though). Channel 5 got what? 2.3 million for Fury-Chisora when neither were particularly well known. Add in Haye, coming off his I'm a Celeb stint and the level of trash talk, they could get 5.5 million provided there was no other big sporting event or other big shows on other channels. So the question is really, will Richard Desmond (a very, very wealthy man) put up the money for a show that is very likely to produce the highest viewing figures he has ever had? For argument's sake let's say: Haye - 3 million quid Fury - 1 million quid Undercard/promotion/overheads - half a million quid Is it worth 4.5 million quid for record viewing figures? How much could he recoup from advertising during the fight? Its not like its a one off show either, I bet 24/7 type shows would get could figures too, not too mention decents name guests for their other shows e.g. The Wright Stuff. Or can Mick get together a big enough purse up front for Haye?
Fury stalks Haye and wears him down for 12 rounds whilst Haye tries to get in and out quickly. Fury on points.
Would Hennessy risk Fury against Haye being so close to cashing in against either Vitali or Wlad, I'm not so sure he would. I know they can build him up again If he lost to Haye but with no belt on the line would It be worth the risk for him and his team. I think Haye would be a nightmare match up for Luke If he struggles like he did early on with USS's speed and footwork god knows what someone as quick and powerful like Haye will do to him. The best bet is to hope and wait for Vitali surely If Vitali continues on there is hope for some challenger to catch Vitali 'getting old overnight'.
It would not surprise me if that wanker Jose Sillyman and the greedy WBC see pound signs in their eyes and make it a final final super dooper eliminator of eliminators and force it.
I would love this fight to happen, but Fury wouldn't take it. Haye would destroy him. I'm not a fan of either of them, but I recognise Haye's capabilities as being far above those of Fury. However, if Fury did take the fight he deserves a lot of credit for putting it on the line.
