When rumours of Haye fighting Harrison first appeared here, Haye was universally slated for even considering it. Now we're only a few weeks away from the event it seems a lot of people are actually looking forward to it as a great piece of entertainment. Any thought's on why this U turn has taken place?
The only people watching this fight in the US are very very Hardcore boxing fans, such as ourselves. And I know in the UK its very popular I feel that the initial fan reaction was more a reflexive "its another joke fight for HWs", which seems to happen now when virtually any HW match of any kind is made. In reality, the HW division is a poor one, no arguing that, and there have been hardly any good fights in the past years that were really action fights, or entertaining in that two skilled fighters went H2H. The Klitschko brothers will keep wrecking whoever is put in front of them, ad infinitum In Haye-Harrison though, we have two fighters with very good pedigree, both have power, both have fragile chins, and both are someting of a joke for the division. Haye has sat on his belt and down jack squat, while Harrison has become a sorry punchline. But if Harrison wins it will be a comeback of the year, and if Haye wipes him out we at least get to see a great KO So everyone wins
Audley can knock Haye out if he can land the big one. We could be watching Vitali or Vlad Vs. Haye, but Haye ran away and hid after breaking two contracts. Haye is not a champion period. WBA belt was won by Chagaev and Vlad beat Chagaev.
Well, if the fight is signed, there is no turning back, and haters might aswell go with it and suck it up
Its a popular fight because its not a serious fight, and people are making the best of it. Plus Audley Harrison is friggin hilarious.
Even though I have very little respect for Haye there is no way I miss this fight. Always when hw tittle is on the line I have hard time to find better things to do. People who say that they won't watch Klitschko or Haye fights on this forum are usually the first ones to comment the outcome.
It's a pathetic fight, Haye is a **** for taking it, but I would love to see Audley punish Haye for his ****ishness by sparking him.
:deal This. The casual fans in the UK are up for it because it's two homegrown fighters having a high-profile ruck and it's being hyped up on SKY continuously (not coincidentally because SKY have the TV rights). The more hardcore fans are looking at it like a shitty 'stay busy' fight that actually has some extra ingredients thrown in: childish smack talking; the prospect of a major upset or, more likely, a straight-forward knock-out. It's like Wlad vs. Jefferson but with clown shoes, goggle eyes, and a silly hairstyle.
To be honest its not. Most British fans even casual ones dont care for Haye Harrison. The hardcore fans of course will be watching. I wont. Theres no way in hell im shelling out coin for that on PPV.
If you watch this fight you can't call yourself a boxing fan because you will be putting money into Hayes' pocket and if he knows he can get away with things like this and so he will have more ****up fights like this and it will be your fault.
I'd have nothing against it if (a) Haye didn't talk a mad game and/or (b) Haye didn't fight twice a year. Because both of those are the case AND a 50/50 title shot was available, sorry, but Haye pulled the least cool move I've heard of in several years.
I don't see anyone getting excited about this joke fight. This is a crap fight just as Wlad - Chisora or Vitali - Briggs. Actually out of these 3 the Vitali - Briggs fight's potential is somewhat ahead of the other two IMO. Doesn't mean it will deliver to be a classic, just there's a 1% chance of being a great fight. Haye - Audley has a 0.0% chance of being a great fight, just like Wlad - Chisora.
