The slaphead smilie is there to be used when people rule out the guy that just beat the guy they desperately want a guy to face. I realise there are a lot of guys in that sentence, but atsch atsch atsch
I think that Toney is a great fight for Hayes second at heavy. The build up will make headlines everywhere and its Hayes chance to make a real name for himself in the US.
TFFP, you're wrong. Styles make fights and Rahman (or Golota) is a far better opponent for Haye if he is to challenge Klitscho in the next fight. I don't Haye to "desperately" fight anyone you Drama Queen, I just think Toney is a bad choice. Stop trying to save pride, quit while you're ahead. You know your wrong. No smiles needed.
Styles make fights up until one Haye shot lands on Rahman's jaw, and its over between 1-3. Great prep that will be.
So what would outpointing Toney prove? Or, lets be honest, do to prepare him for Wlad? Even if he stops Toney (likely) it doesn't help him. He needs a big gallute of a heavyweight with long arms leaning on him and pushing him back, thats the experience he needs before he fights Klitscho. Beating Rahman or Golota would prove a lot more to me than beating Toney, esp. where his chances against Wlad are concerned.
Alright GazOC, it might not prove that he's ready for Wlad, he might never be in any case. But KOing Toney and being the first to do it would make a massive statement on the heavyweight scene. Sure there are tougher fights for him out there but a big win here over a big name fighter would really capture the boxing worlds imagination. Look what happened when Hatton spectaculary stopped Castillo. Most real fans knew Castillo was past it but it was a very high profile win that captured the public and decision makers imagination and without that win Hatton would probably still be calling out Floyd.
If Haye just wants his payday against Wlad then let him fight Toney. Thats fair enough, fighter fight for money. If he wants a decent preparation to give himself a reasonable chance of becoming the heavyweight champ when he fights Wlad next then he should be fighting someone else instead of Toney.
4 i think he might have two fights before wlad, i would like to see him fight toney and then either valuev or thompson.
If he has 2 fights then Toney isn't a bad fight (still far from good) but Haye always said one fight and then Klitscho. Maybe he's moved the goalposts?
the thing is will he be able to fight him after just one fight, surely wlad beating povetkin and maybe another guy and then haye beating to decent heavyweights would build the fight up alot more.
That was always his plan....I don't see the logic myself? Toneys the last guy in the top 10 he should be fighting to get ready for Klitscho.
Haye would expose Toney for the fat, bloated, old middlewieght that he is. After Haye owned him all you would hear in the general forum would be about Toney was past prime and that he would have beaten Haye a few years ago and how Haye should fight a real heavyweight.
