Have read a couple of articles about Haye v Mormeck today.

One mentioned a "spirit of non co-operation" surrounding the promotion of this fight. Haye's team have adopted would could be likened to a siege mentality in the build up with Haye quoted as saying "our aim is to go in there, get the job done and jump on the first train back to London".

On another note Maccarinelli plans to be ringside in Paris! Says he wants to fight the winner of this bout but I think Haye plans to move up to Heavyweight after this one.

Nothing!! Mr King is playing hardball, but there could be something done as late as Weds. Stumbling blocks. sky dont show boxing prime time on Saturdays, Setanta paid a wedge already for Cotto Mosley & Mayorga Vargas, also, they'd want good time to promote the fight to gain new customers on the back of it - something they wont do getting the fight late!

Is it canal + that are showing it in France?

 

Didnt say they wouldnt, I just said they dont (usually). Must be that the money being asked is too high.


Although as a side point. WWE is the most watched thing on Sky, and football probbaly takes away a big chunk of the target audience.

 

Plus a **** load of people have sky JUST for the golf. No way would they move that!

 

Does anyone who knows about Sopcast know if it will be streamed there? Used it for the first time on Saturday as I hadn't got round to ordering Setanta for the Calzaghe fight and was pretty impressed to get the HBO coverage streamed.

I had posted that several days ago but Mormeck's coach Richie Giachetti had an heart attack. Mormeck finished the preparation with his cutman. Mormeck looks serious and in good shape but it does not mean much as he has always looked in good shape.
The staff had changed the preparation for Haye cause Mormeck had difficulties in the last rounds against Bell. Mormeck trained in Monaco (sea altitude) for Bell. This time he has trained at L'Alpe d'Huez (2000m) then la Bourboule (800m) and Pantin.
Mormeck gave an interview. He seems dedicated but far to be enthusiastic.
To sum up Haye is a mandatory defense, he is not the key for anything. Mormeck said good things about Haye but it's clear he only fights him cause he does not want to be stripped by the WBC. He told he still wants to become the undisputed champion. He wants the WBO and IBF belts. It's clear he will call out Cunningham and Maccarinelli if he wins.
In France Mormeck is supported but he is also very criticized. His rematch against Bell is considered highly controversial and Acaries launched the rumor : "The result was fixed." Acaries is ready to destroy Mormeck who is a big threat for his business. Mormeck broke the exclusivity Acaries had with Canal+ and Mormeck is King's key to enter the french market. This exclusivity means big money, Canal+ is a rich channel, they paid 650 million euros to broadcast the mediocre french soccer championship ! Mormeck has always said that the most difficult fights are outside of the ring. He has always worked to find the fights, to sell the fights on TVs and he has many other activities (management company, clothes)
Mormeck thinks of the defeat and in fact a defeat could be interesting for him. He knows what he would do if he was beaten. Tiozzo claimed many times that the "Marksman" chose to unify to avoid him. Canal+ would give much more money for Tiozzo that they would give for Cunningham or Maccarinelli. Mormeck had always replied that he hadn't unified to fight Tiozzo ("Collect a major belt or become the mandatory challenger"). For the 1st time Mormeck answered positively. He is interested in a fight against Tiozzo : it's clear he would fight Tiozzo if he lost the belts against Haye.

 

Mormeck can make everything ok by beating Haye. That should be his only focus right now. Not his personal endeavors, not Acaries's BS, and not Tiozzo. Only David Haye.
