Calling Bell a "joke" is pretty stupid. Bell is a legit world class level fighter and fought two good scraps with Mormeck. Haye can punch hard, but let's remember that journeyman Giocobbe Fragomeni took him deep, as did Ismail Abdoul. Mormeck is a grinder type like those guys, but much stronger and more experienced. I'm assuming that Mormeck's conditioning will be tip top and he'll be able to take Haye's power and grind out a comfortable decision through workrate and aggression. Mormeck UD.
50-50 fight. Haye has better skills, is faster and definately hits harder. On the other hand Mormeck probably has the power to KO Haye as well, and has a good chin. Both fighters are likely to tire down the stretch, and this is where a KO is likely IMO. It depends on who has the most left in the tank. Kinda similair to Mormeck-Bell 1. Mormeck was the aggressor for the early to middle rounds, tired and got knocked out. We have seen Haye do this before as well against Thompson, though we can guess It won't happen again in the same manner, as he seems to have learned from this. However given that he will be drained for the fight it is likely he will tire. So a late round KO, or possibly an early blowout for Haye. Though his best option would be to use his height and skills and box Mormecks ears off, we know he probably wont.
Mormeck combines workman-like commitment with accurate, well-studied and well-executed punching combinations, he has the experience and one of the most impressive physics in the sport. Most important than all, this is a consistent, no-nonsense professional and the only man I would pick to beat him would be a murderous puncher... Haye has fought and impressed even at heavyweight, just lost to one magnificent cruiser in another commited professional Carl Thompson but I don't think he can do it now, Jean Marc UD 12.
I would call Carl magnificient. His nickname was certainly very apt (the Cat) as he literally had 9 lives. Thomspon was a solid commited pro who always left it all in the ring. But Haye being brash and wanting to impress blew his wad in under 2 rounds trying to KO the wiley cat early. He learnt the hard way and got TKO`ed through exhaustion.
Totally agree. And for once simply having to make weight could affect him badly as opposed to in the past when it has been his own fault for partying and not training hard enough.
To my knowledge, it still isn't. King is being a pill. I just spent 30 minutes trying to figure out what the hell is going on so I could add that info to the calendar, but no go. Canal+ in France.
Even if he makes weight and his stamina is crap its still his fault.David beefed himself up into a heavy as he was obsessed with being a heavyweight. He was able to make 190.The division jumped 10lbs and now all of sudden we see him with his bodybuilder physique struggling to come down from 230 to make 200.Thats all his own fault. He will loose conditioning if he hasnt come down slowly to give his body time to adjust to the weight.
That is crazy but typical of how bad Maloney is at promoting his fighters, his biggest british fighter and he can't get him on british television.!
Thats because he probably signed away every right to Don King.I wonder if King has any future options on Haye if he beats Mormeck..
Yeah that is fair enough. He did seem natural at the weight when he fought Bonin and it was interesting him saying he does not have to force the power, it comes more naturally. But I just hope he has done genuine road work, because every time I see videos of his training camps it looks so laid back and with such little aerobic exercise that it is amazing he is not out of breath from walking to the ring.
As far as I know. Here's the story from August: Good news for fight fans: Promoter Don King told ESPN.com that he and Madison Square Garden chief James Dolan, a big boxing fan, are teaming up again to bring U.S. fans live coverage on MSG Network of the cruiserweight world championship fight between Jean-Marc Mormeck and mandatory challenger David Haye of England. The fight matching two big punchers will take place Nov. 10 in Paris. King said the fight was moved from its original Sept. 28 date because of scheduling conflicts with the European broadcaster. "Ain't no question, that fight will be on here in the U.S. of A.," King said. "It will be shown in America. It will be on MSG. Where else would it be? Jim Dolan has been magnificent." King and Dolan have teamed up to bring some of King's other foreign fights to American TV this year, including Mormeck's action-packed rematch with O'Neil Bell, a card from Poland featuring Tomasz Adamek and Andrew Golota and the heavyweight title bout between Chagaev and Nikolai Valuev.
