For ****'s sake - Povetkin beats some Yank chump who took a dive and all of a sudden he is a world beater. I haven't seen enough of him to decide whether he would beat Haye, but having read reviews of his recent fights he seems half decent.
c'mon now.... if you dont like Haye runnin his mouf thats one thing, but someone like Povektin?.....he'd get destroyed, be realistic....dosent have the power, and doesnt have the speed to back up his boxing ability, or atleast not enough to keep from getting KO'd for 12 rounds... c'mon now ya'll know this, why joke around?
Didnt he win Olympic Gold...that usually means decent! ...and hes worked his way to a world title shot now so I'd guess hes definately decent!
I find it funny that so many people are willing to rate Haye so highly despite not having a legit fight at heavy, don't give me Bonin. Haye has been deposited by Mock, a career super middle with a 30% KO ratio, Thompson and Mormeck (who has fought most of his fights below 180). All of these guys have considerably lower KO ratios than Povetkin, 75%, which has been against heavies. Haye also had a lot of trouble with Fragomeni and Mormeck, both are rather straight forward pressure fighters who are slower, smaller, and have less power and skill than Povetkin. Now Haye might do well at heavy, but between Povetkin having stopped Byrd and defeating Donald and Chambers, his stamina, his power that many of you are seriously underrating, and Haye's own trouble with skilled pressure fighters I would heavily favor Povetkin over Haye right now.
By the way people are high on Povetkin off of his other wins, namely Donald, Byrd and Chambers. Haye has one win over some Polish chump, who is worse than Sykes going by who they have defeated, and people are saying he will clean out the heavies.
Povetkin would beat Haye imo. Haye has the punch but he struggles against guys who bring pressure. Also if Mormeck could drop him and be winning on points, i dont see why Povetkin couldnt.
Povetkin has a mandatory spot for Klitschko, why would he want to fight Haye right now when he can fight the WBO/IBF title holder for greater glory and more money?
You know some other guys like Lennox Lewis, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Evander Holyfield, Wladimir Klitschko, and Muhammad Ali won gold. Harrison is an aberration who benefited from a very shallow talent pool at the time. Seriously, outside of a gold medal at the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games, he achieved virtually nothing as an amateur.
Haye's only chance at victory is landing a huge bomb early in the fight. I doubt Povetkin would allow Haye to get set up for such a punch. With the pressure Povetkin applies, Haye is going to have to land while on the move, which he will do for a while, but that is not going to stop Povetkin. I think the case would be that Povetkin would be hurting Haye a lot more than the reverse. If Haye makes it through 12 rounds to lose a UD it will be by the skin of his teeth. I think it's more likely a late TKO for Povetkin. He would break Haye down.
