Word is Haye wants to fight or is in talks to maybe fight Rahman or Maskaev.

Would you give him credit for beating either guy?
    OR
Who do you think he should fight?

One solid right hand from either fighter and its lights out for Mr. Haye. I would give him credit for beating either guy, because at least they are both legit heavy's. I don't think he will fight either for his first fight at heavy however. He'll probably fight Tye Fields

Neither opponent would mean much. Maskaev's been stopped six times in his career. Beating him wouldn't be that much bigger than Haye's win over Gurov, another Eastern European with a penchant for being KO'd. Just a bigger guy and more of a chance of getting caught himself cuz Maskaev still has that right hand.

Rahman's damaged goods and should bow out gracefully knowing that he held what was once the biggest title on earth for the better part of a year. That being said, I don't know who would be the most suitable opponent for Haye right now. It all depends on how fast they want to move him and whether or not the Wlad fight can actually materialize. All I know is that beating Rahman or Maskaev fail to make any type of statement when you've already called out the top dog in the division and basically implied that his mandatories (Thompson and Povetkin) were bums.

    Tye fields...could be.
The 1st fight for Haye seems to be the biggest guessing game on ESB in a long time:lol:

I think he'd get a bit more credibility for beating the Rock, as it stands right now.

Regardless of the decision change, at least Rock wasn't TKOed in his last fight, as Oleg was.

Not sure which would actually be the tougher fight, but I think Rock would be seen as the best scalp on Haye's resume'.

Assuming he can beat Rock, which is yet to be seen. :good

That is exactly my thought. Haye calls out the top dog (over and over) and he wants to fight 2 guys that most think should retire.

you watch!....Haye beats either guy and the nuthuggers will be calling Haye the #1 guy....Makes me sick!:barf

I've never seen a fighter hyped on message boards as much as David Haye. It's 5x worse than Cotto.

I agree. Thats why I started this thread. The hype that Haye is getting, when he wants to fight Rahman or Maskaev, is a JOKE.

If Wlad, Peter, Valuev, Chagaev, or any top dog signed to fight Rahman or Maskaev, they would be laughed at big time

He beats one extremely hyped up, pasty, glorified club fighter in Enzo Crapinelli and all of the sudden people are proclaiming him the pugilistic jesus. It's just a little bit much for me to take.

maskaev is fighting hawkins though. so he is out. it feels like they are trying to get a rahman deal done. of the 2, maskaev is a much tougher opponent. he landed some murderous right hands on peter. rahman is shot to pieces

toney, thompson, chambers or Sultan are the best 4 available opponents right now for haye. i would give him much respect if he took on any one of 'dem bums" in november. 3 of them have already called him out.

if he chooses rahman, myself and the other wald fanboys will continue to rag on Mr. Haye and his lunactic British fanbase :yep

The circumstances are different though. Haye's moving up from cruiserweight. His mistake was calling out Wladimir Klitschko right away rather than making a quiet but bold transition to the division by fighting some name guys. I like David Haye but he did this to himself. He could have beaten a couple name guys in a span of a few months and then hyped a fight with Wladimir but instead he chose to call out the #1 guy when he knew full well that mandatories were gonna keep him busy until '09. Now he has to fight someone and it has to be someone credible and while Rahman and Maskaev are that, they are shopworn fighters who would be sitting ducks at this point.

Toney, Thompson, Chambers...all good. Sultan...???...I don't know. I would also add Monte Barret.

Haye don't want any James Toney, all he has to do is call Dan Goosen.

Well, they have all had more than ONE heavyweight fight haven't hey?

How long since Rahman or Maskaev had a title?

How long since Peter fought Maskaev?

How long since Chagaev got INTO the ring with ANYONE?

As the guy above me said, Haye's problem is his **** talking. Holyfield didn't step from cruiser and fight the heavyweight champ in his first HW fight - so why should Haye????

Speaking of Wlad, I think that Haye is a tougher fight right now than Tony Thomson, or the Rainman. They were just awful in their title fights. Awful.
