You think that was a mistake? I call it being astute. He's got people talking by doing it without any risk of the fight actually happening. Everybody that is remotely interested in boxing now knows who he is and it doesn't matter a crap that half of them want to see him get K'edTFO, all that matters at this point is that people are interested to see what happens next. From a financial point of view it dont matter whether you buy a fight to see someone win or lose as long as you buy the fight. That is self promotion at work. There has been precious little interesting going on in the heavies of late and win or lose Haye's career over the next year or two will interesting at least. And thank **** for that.

this is all on haye! he and Sentana created this hype calling everyone in the division "dem bums". he made it sound like he could fight wlad tomorrow and ko him in 1 round. so when he fights a soft touch like rahman all his talk makes him look foolish.

he created unrealistic expectations and now he has to live up to them

    AMEN!
I dont think I have ever wanted to see a certain boxer get KO'd as bad as I want to see Haye get Ko'd
I dont mind "CONFIDENCE" but "COCKY" kills me

He's a KO waiting to happen...after Rahman's performance vs. Toney, Haye knows defeating him or making him quit makes no greater statement than what Toney did recently, without even breaking a sweat I might add...and with no fake hype.

    Maskaev...???

Hell everyone from MW champ Bernard Hopkins on up called his name when he got a belt, because everyone knows how beatable he is.

The only statement Haye is making is with his mouth, choosing these guys is very suspect.

That's what I said too, it's Hayes' fault for creating it.

But everybody else is crazy if they buy into it. He wants to create a bit of hype, and sell tickets and PPV's. He's doing that.

And Haye could beat most of the bums around. Like I said, thomson was woeful against Wlad. Austin was garbage too.

Those guys are mandatories. And they are, in fact, ****.

Could he step in now and beat Wlad? I don't think so.

I tell you what though, he'd do more than stand there with his gloves as earmuffs for seven or eight rounds like "The Tiger" did.

Haye should have 3 or 4 fights against the Rahmans of the world. Those guys are still in and around the top ten fighters.

people can continue to claim wlad fights nothing but bums or set ups but at some point he will have to get credit for winning and defending his title just like Holmes or Louis who fought their fair share of soft touches.

thompson didn't lay down either. he stayed competitive for 6 rounds. he ate right hands from round 2 on and proved to be very durable. U can claim he was garbage but i feel it was wlad's size, power and conditioning that broke tony down.

Rahman is a bigger name to fight at the moment, that'd be the best fight of the 2 he'd get more credibility for, Maskaev has a better chance of beating him though, so the realistic option is Rahman.

James Toney is the best option. He is a legend in his own right and is still a some what capable opponent, unlike Rahman and Maskaev. Toney gives Haye a fighter that looks good on his resume and is a name people won't bash him for if he beats Toney convincingly. Problem is I don't think he can beat Toney convincingly. He may not even be able to beat Toney at all!

Your not the only one, I don't think Haye believes he can beat James Toney...he's going to try and pull a fast one on the public, by destroying someone who's already been destroyed.

Let him try to destroy James, that would be a statement.

wouldnt give him much credit for beating either guy as the rock quit in his last fight and showed a total lack of heart and maskaev is older than old and he used to get KTFO in his prime so putting him out wouldnt prove anything at all..but i think he should take on sultan may not be the biggest puncher in HW but it will be able to let us know how he takes a HW punch and how he looks against a recent ex-champ

and i agree with the toney fight that would be a huge statement but i dont think he would do it and toney is still slick enough to pull the upset
