ditto- this is a no brainer, Haye dosen't have the power Lennox had to keep Tyson off:deal Tyson would bounce on Haye and stop him early, all of you Haye groupies need to get a grip! what heavy has Haye beaten worth a ****???:huh and were talking about a guy that was KO'D by Carl Thompson for christ sakes..
I wouldn't feel too comfortable with picking Haye against the Williams Tyson. Williams absorbed some big punches early on and Tyson was looking sharp. I just don't have enough faith in Haye's chin and defense to withstand an early Tyson onslaught.
Yeah, inspite of Haye's vast superiority to Williams, I agree with this. My point is more that it is reasonable to pick Haye over Williams Tyson, but unreasonable to pick Haye over Lewis era Tyson.
Young prime Tyson: KO 1. He would just bullrush haye, landing everywhere and on that dodgy chin. Most of Hayes punches are thrown fairly stationary as well, not swiftly on the move, back foot, as he would be with Tyson swarming all over him.
you can't use the williams fight as a gage because tyson tore up his knee and couldn't even move around the ring after the middle of the 2nd round. imo the tyson vs lewis was the worst ever version of tyson (w/ the mcbride fight being not too far behind), little explosiveness, no accuracy, not much of anything besides chin. he looked like crap whether it was the pressure of the big night or just poor health or training (he was on prescription anti anxiety meds which wouldn't help). that version would be haye's best shot imo (even in the mcbride fight tyson was able to pinpoint some shots and had some stamina but the huge mick just drained him with his size and clubbing shots). now i agree throw out the lewis fight and the tyson of the late 90's and early 2000's was too much for haye.
