It was a good punch that landed solidly on Wladimir's chin, but I felt like Wlad held so Haye wouldn't hit him again rather than out of desperation cuz he was hurt.
Jack, If it makes you sleep better at night, then go ahead and think this... I can imagine the torment you- and your fellow brits- went through with the money and booze and all...the only good thing you had fight nite was the booze... Fact is, this chapter is closed, unless Hayes really has a death wish and faces Vitali.:dead
WK always holds, even without punch... nowhere near shaking him to the core... and Haye's tentative display probably has to do with the fact that he didn't like the taste of the medicine he received at the beginning.
Wlads big punches had more of a changing effect on the fight then Haye's. Even though Haye wasn't wobbled or knocked down when Wlad landed it made Haye fight more cautious and weary. It wasn't going too bad for David in those first 4 rounds, Wlad didn't look great, nothing much in the rounds, even though Wlad was edging them. Haye was making him miss with the jab, but as soon as the right hand landed, i think it was round 5 or 6 it totally changed the dynamic of the fight. I'm glad though that people are starting to think differently about Haye's performance now the dust has settled and people's eye's have cleared. Firstly, Haye's performance wasn't as poor as people are saying. It depends on your expectations before the fight and if you were naive enough to believe a fighters talk, but if you were a realist and your expectations weren't that high then Haye put on a decent showing. Some people were just giving Haye attributes he hasn't got and expecting him to be a reincarnation of Joe Frazier or Mike Tyson and press the action on the inside, which was NEVER gonna be the case. There wasn't much wrong with his gameplan IMO. Could he have given himself a better chance of winning with a little more kill or be killed approach? possibily, but more likely he would've got killed and then his career would really be over. There would be no coming back from a early blow out or a vicious beating. I'm hearing words like Catastrophe, Humiliation and destroyed when he's dropped a wide decision. Imagine the reaction if he was starched early? The Haye camp really didn't trust his toughness to win this fight imo. So, when he took those right hands he should've got more confidence and that's the only criticism i'm gonna level at him. To win he was always relying on one big game changing punch landing and hurting Wlad and it was always gonna be an extremely difficult task. What let him down was his awful technique, lack of combination punching and poor balance. Wlad could see everything coming and a simply step back and space-making with the left arm was enough to deflect the sporadic wild Hayemakers, i mean a blind man could see that right from Haye. He needed to punch through the middle, which he rarely does/can do and set his shots up better. He was also jumping out too far after he launched an attack which made him lose initiative and allowed Wlad to regain his poise. There were glimpses there of what could've been, but realistically he was just up against a better, bigger fighter and he did well for what he had IMO.
Not really. Both had a mouse under the eye but Haye had several large bruises on the forehead and was swollen a little bit around the eyes. That's why he put those big glasses for the post fight presser and had that baseball cap slung low for the interviews the next day.
Neither did much damage. The best punch was probably Haye's in the 12th that had Wlad doing his octopus routine.
Wlad was marked up under both eyes. Haye had a swollen bump, on his cheek, and bruises on his heads......
When Wlad would connect on Haye, David would go on the offensive and fire off shots in retaliation. When Haye hurt Wlad, Wlad would grab and hold. I think Haye took the harder shots, but Wlad is kind of a vagina and overreacted to anything that came his way so maybe it appeared he took more damage.
This content is protected Clearly mangled. Whose wearing shades indoors at the post-fight press conference?
The only damage Haye did was to his own integrity and to boxing in general. He is a sporting con artist of limited ability who made millions from what was supposed to be a sporting CONTEST, do not support a rematch as he would turn it into another rip off circus.
