Encouraging that Haye hasn't bulked up for the sake of it. http://setantasports.com/en/Sport/News/Other-sports/2008/11/14/Boxing-Both-fighters-in-great-condition/?facets/sport-space/australia-locale/boxing/ "I made sure that I didn't make of just piling on the pounds," Haye told Setanta Sports News. "I haven't even checked the scales all week. I was looking to weigh what I weighed. "This is my weight at the present time, I'll probably put on a little weight as I go on, but I wasn't going to just put on two or three stone for the sake of it. "It's a solid stone I've put on and you'll see that tomorrow night. "A lot of what I'm being doing is focusing on being comfortable with big guys putting pressure on me. I feel very comfortable now - you'll see that tomorrow night.
Not that we should read much into it, but 16st2 for Barrett, is the second heaviest he's ever been (he was 1lb heavier in the ko loss to couser).
Barrett obviously feels like he has to put on more weight to absorb Haye's punches. The Danny Williams tactic as it should be known. Encouraging signs for Haye. Also encouraging is that he didn't do as I expected and let his ego take over. Very sensible weight.
Good that he hasn't bulked up too much. I was worrying Haye would come in near the 230 mark. 215-220 is good.
Anything just under 217 which he weighed in at for Bonin sounds ideal to me. Let's hope that Haye comes in as fast and sharp as expected at this weight.
