Casual fans being interested is one thing. Getting them to go through the hassle of remembering when the fight is on, finding the channel, and then going through all the Paywizard nonsense is a different story.

Sky's system is easier. You can do it all with the remote, and Sky advertise the **** out of their PPV events on their own channels. And people trust that if something ****s up a big company like Sky have to put it right.

I'd be amazed if this fight does as well as Haye and Wlad. See real boxing fans can't resist pressing the red button and ordering a PPV. People who don't usually follow the sport need it putting on a plate for them. Going through paywizard to sign up for an obscure boxing channel isn't impulsive enough. If they get it simplified and on the red button, and get Delboy to keep the fight in the headlines with a few slaps in the build up, then it's a money spinner!

The reason why they have to use Paywizard is simple- Sky obviously want a high fee for a premium upgrade service (a la ESPN/MUTV) that Boxnation can't justify.

As I've said before there will be problems with the ordering service on the night unless they promote a sensible strategy beforehand. For instance, if you just watched the Freeviews on Boxnation does the subscription info get shown enough?

Any idea of the number of BoxNation subscribers right now?

I have seen numbers a few weeks back, of 20,000 subscribers, with 60,000 needed for them to break-even.

Perhaps, but don't you need a phone line plugged in to the Sky box? Not everyone has that.

Boxnation are a private company so don't publish figures, heard some rumours but nothing concrete

You only need your phoneline connected to order PPV by the remote, if you phone up Sky and Primetime can send a direct PPV signal to your dish to unlock an event but it blocks your ability to record.

Boxnation only use subscription signals which you don't need a phoneline connected for but these signals are not instant, this means at times of high activity the time taken to send the signal increases massively. A subscription signal can be delayed by as much as 24hours at peak activity
