OK let me break it down for you

    * In 2008 the USD was trading at $1.60 to the EUR. So the winning purse big was $13 million = 8.1 million EUR.
    * In 2010 the USD was trading around $1.20 to the EUR when the purse bids were turned in. So the winning purse bid was $8 million = 6.7 million EUR.

8.1 million EUR divided by 6.7 million EUR = 1.2089. That means that the winning purse bid in 2008 was approx. 21% higher in EUR than the 2010 purse bid. Your entire calculation in USD is off base because the lion's share of the revenues for the fight - as it will be staged in Germany - are based in EUR, not in USD. The bidders (K2, Sauerland) are calculating their budget for the event in EUR, not in USD. Does it make more sense now?

Oh, for God's sake. I don't mind a little hyperbole, but you, son, are ridiculous. Comparing Povetkin to Audley Harrison? You should turn in your ESB membership.

Wait, never fighting a heavyweight with power? Sounds like someone we all know. Remind me, how many of Haye's heavyweight opponents were big punchers? I think I heard somewhere that Valuev hadn't had a KO in over 4 years. That Ruiz hadn't beat anyone of substance in 5 years. And that Barrett was almost killed by Cliff Couser. Cliff Couser!!! And that was before he fought Haye. Go back to sleep, fool.

I've got another get nugget of information for you. A year before the fight with Haye, Monte Barrett got destroyed by Cliff Couser in two rounds. Since that time, Couser has lost 9 fights in a row, 7 of them by knockout. That's right. His last win in ten fights was against Barrett. Now, Haye claimed that he would fight a top ten opponent. Barrett didn't even belong in the top 50 at the time, he wast shot. Ruiz was also shot. Everyone knows Valuev was shot.

I'm not stating the facts to disparage Haye, I'm stating the because they are facts. Haye's campaign at heavweight is nothing but smoke and mirrors...a series of carefully chosen fights against shot fighters who still had respectable reputations. It was a brilliant strategy. He and his manager have done a masterful job making obscene amounts of money fighting shot fighters. I don't blame him. My only question is how he has managed to fool so many fans?

I can assure you, both Valuev and Ruiz have a higher ko ratio than Estrada, Bryd, and Chambers. Who all have under 50% ko ratio, thats a fact.:deal

Povetkin backed out his fight with Wlad a couple times as well, so he's no better or worse than Haye. Povetkin is avoided power punchers for a reason, he knows his chin will be exposed by anyone with power. I will make sure to say "I told you so" when it happens. :good

If you were Wlad how could you be sure that Haye is really interested in the fight, even if you agree to his "100% of UK TV revenue" demand? Haye and Booth have a history of disappearing from negotiations and changing their minds very often in the middle of things.

Check what Finkel said on Fightnews: "Adam Booth stopped replying and didn't answer the phone". The ball is officially in Haye's court to make up his mind if he is genuinely interesting in fighting Wlad at all or if he's just playing games at this point.

Oh for anybody wondering why Haye has been a little bit under the radar screen, you have to realize the man is a celebrity and quite busy and does not have time to respond to the nagging questions of us mortal boxing fans.

Here is David as he was busy this week cutting the ribbon for a garden in London that was named "The Haye" in his honor. Yes you got that right, the savior of the HW division is too busy to respond to Wlad's challenge but he has time to personally appear and sign his name on a flower bed  :

I hear what your saying madballster, but the Klits are notorious for being greedy at negotiation table. I remember Vitali pricing himself out big time a couple years ago when he wanted to fight Maskaev to regain his title back. The fight didn't happen and Vitali wouldn't fight for another year and half or so after that. I guess it goes both ways, both men are pricing themselves out in this one it seems.

COWARD....yes it takes balls to step in the ring...but when its obvious you dont want to step in the same ring with certain people...coward is the one word that fits

You are missing the point. Ruiz, Barrett and Valuev were shot fighter. Ko ratio measures what a fighter does over the course of his entire career. By the time Haye got to Ruiz, Barrett and Valuev they weren't even mediocre punchers anymore. Valuev hadn't had a ko in 4 years. Barrett got destroyed by Cousser and Ruiz fought had won a significant fight in over 5 years.

Chamber is easily the best of the bunch. And he is easily a better fighter than anyone Audley has ever beaten. Correct?

You are entitled to your opinion as far as the Klits being greedy is concerned, but the way I remember the Vitali - Maskaev story is a bit different:

    1. Vitali was trying to use his WBC emeritus status to challenge Maskaev.
    2. Peter was lined up to get a mandatory title shot at Maskaev and threated to goto court if he was denied an immediate shot at Maskaev.
    3. Peter then "offered" a ridiculous step-aside of something like $4 million dollars in order to allow Vitali fight Maskaev, so then Peter could fight the winner.
    4. Vitali declined because the amount would fully come out of Vitali's purse. Instead, he waited for Peter to fight Maskaev and only then he used his emeritus status to challenge the winner, saving himself $4 million dollars.

Feel free to Google the story, I remember reading about this and I am quite sure my recollection is quite accurate. The matter of the fact is that Vitali wasn't greedy, it was Peter who torpedoed the Vitali - Maskaev fight using his mandatory challenger right.

How Haye can say that he "still is trying to get a fight with the Klitschkos" is beyond me. Does he honestly think they will accept a fight where they make less than him? Why does Haye keep saying he is working on getting a fight done with them when it is obvious that he is erecting demands that do everything to keep a fight from happening.

You told me so? He's fighting Wlad next. Of course he is going to be exposed by Wlad. He's the best fighter in the division. But there's nothing to prove that Povetkin has avoided big punchers. There is, however, ample evidence to infer that Haye has avoided big punchers at heavyweight. Look at the guys he's fighting. Ruiz, Barrett, Valuev? Neither of them can punch their way out of a bag. :bbb
