Haye Wlad... 50-50 WAS offered!!!!!

This could be truer than you suspect. Wlad's lawyer told him to forget Haye and never mention him again because he is simply a waste of time and effort. He has had his chances.

 

Isn't that how all boxing works? TV companies take off promotional and broadcasting costs from every fighter don't they?

For example when Mayweather-Mosley sold 1.4 million do you think they saw every penny of that?

I believe we the fans have an inflated perspective of how much these guys actually earn, don't you?

I always work from the top number because it's all we have, and that deal will be different next time round.

This could very well be true but let's be honest, Haye will happily pick up a couple more £5-6 million paydays and walk away.

I'm still pissed he isn't going after Vitali to be honest.

 

Every normal person can see that Haye simply doesn't want to fight Klits now.

 

People here are saying he is already making noise about not having to fight Ruiz and is trying to get out of that. Look for another scheduled fight in Finland I guess. The most vocal are trying to claim Haye still wants the fight for his legacy, but we know he will sleep very well if he picks up another $10 to $12 or whatever that equates to. No # key....

 

I've always believed Haye only wants 1-2 big risk fights and he's saving them till last. But the way he's ****ing around they might not be there when the time comes.

Remember this ain't Tyson or Lewis we're talking about, this isn't a guy who wants to tear through the division no matter what the cost, this is a business man.

Financially what Haye's doing makes perfect sense to me, take the low risk big cash fights then go out with a bang earning 2 huge paydays. From a boxing POV it's bull**** though, I mean I saw Vitalis last fight, all the signs are there that he's on the slide and can be taken. Hell fight Audley after if he wants then go for Wlad, but to fight Audley now knowing Vitali is seriously considering retirement has me ****ed off.

 

The ironic thing is that Haye must think the big fights are available to him at the press of a button when he feels ready and when he wants it. Often times, life doesn't work like that. What if Wlad is injured, or gets knocked out by Povetkin, what if Vitali retires for good at the end of this year, what if Haye gets knocked out by his next opponent. Stranger things have happened in life and especially in boxing.

This wouldn't be the first big fight that was derailed by some freak random occurrence down the line. Haye is naive to think big opportunities will line up the second he says he's ready.

We may well look back at early 2010 and think "Oh too bad the fight didn't happen back then".

 

Well the risk he takes is that if he can't get out of his mandatory with Chagaev is, at the rate he makes fights, it will be Harrison and then Chagaev. Chagaev is no 'gimmie' fight and could be the end of Haye's heavy weight title days. I don't know if the WBA will put up with another charade like Don King pulled. Not that any of these orgs have any credibility left, but...... They have to try and keep up appearances somehow. Well, maybe not..... Look at what they get away with now FFS.

 

If Povetkin or Harrison by some miracle cause an upset Haye only has himself to blame.

But you know what's sick? The way Haye does business we'll end up with a Haye-Harrison trilogy!!

In a way I blame the sanctioning bodies. Someone needs to put these ****s in a room (the main 3) once a year until they emerge with a 'unify or be stripped' stipulation. Never going to happen though, too much money to be made doing things this way.

The WBA is the biggest joke of the 3, it wouldn't surprise me if they let Chagaev slide.

what has that got to do with my post? Simply stating that haye doesnt seem to have made a counter offer after the povetkin fight was made.

No it doesn't. HBO don't cover Wlad. Won't unless Haye fights him.
They will cover Haye v Adamek though.

Haye would also take a much bigger cut than Harrison too. So he'd make not much less money against Harrison in a far easier fight.

I think it's **** too. But Haye certainly has people wanting to watch him, whether it's to get his faced caved in or not I don't know, but he does.

Wlad's last few fights I've seen have been horrificly boring. It's a combination of him being a lot better than his opponents, fighting cautiously despite that, and his opponents not having the one thing that can win it over Wlad. A big punch.

How was Sluggish Eddie ever, ever going to beat Wlad? he wasn't, Wlad would win 10 out of 10 against him. Who's going to pay to watch that?

Wlad is better than Haye, I'm sure of it. But jesus he's been boring to watch for years.

The other thing to consider is just how many 'stakeholders' there are in Haye now. God knows how much percentage he has to give up to them all (Sauerland, King, Booth etc). That's shitty on his behalf for sure, but I'm betting it's a factor. He won't get all of the purse for it. I'm guessing he won't even see 50% of it personally.

Wlad might also be getting a 'purse', but (and I really don't know the answer to this) is K2 running the promotion? He'll be making plenty over and above his purse if they are. (If not, then just ignore me.....)
