people are seriusly underestimating david haye . all the talk of him having to earn a shot is true he already has undispued world cuiserweight champion what has tony thompson earned.
Haye is undisputed champion but he only has 1 defence. He needs more imo. If he can't make the cruserweight limit then thats fine but it doesn't mean he should get a title shot right away.
There's always different ways of looking at things, a lot of people will say he needs to fight a few contenders before getting his shot. Others will say he was undisputed Cruiserweight champion and deserves a shot, Roy Jones got a title fight without fighting at HW.
Cruiserweight and heavyweight are actually different divisions. So the answer would be that Thompson has fought his way up and got a shot the hard way, as opposed to Haye who has done **** all. Haye has no defense, and a bad chin and has been troubled by the majority of fighters he has fought at some point in the fight. He has reasonably quick hands, good skills and good power. He likes to fight on the outside, i fail to this as a good idea against Vlad, but there you go.Although Haye would try and have you believe that power and a bit of speed is unique, it isn't. All in all this doesn't equate to messianic in my opinion.
If your comparing it to what someone has done in the division, what had Roy Jones done at HW to deserve a title shot, what had De La Hoya done at 147 to get a title shot, Barrera etc. Sometimes a fight is that big it get's made if the fighter has proven himself in the division or not.
i Can See David Landing The Hayemaker And Finishing The Fight Overhand Right Like The Big Mac Fight. And Wlads Legs Collapse And He Goes Down Like A Geraffe
All of which are huge ppv draws. I would be surprised if Americans even knew who Haye is. The fight isn't big yet, for anyone to state otherwise is clearly on the hype wagon. If the fight is big because Haye can bang, then there are another 50 fighters at heavyweight that can bang and could theoretically tko Vlad that doesn't make it likely, it's certainly not unique. Also Just because the aforementioned fighters did get a shot doesn't mean they have to, especially before mandatories.
How big is he in the states? As far as I know the only time he has been televised over there is against Enzo. Whether he was kidding or not I don't know but Holyfield was over here promoting his book and he didn't seem to know who Haye + Macca were.
