Hayemaker makes Warren a counter offer

    HAYEMAKER BOXING have made a counter-offer to James Degale for a Commonwealth title challenge against champion George Groves in December.

    Adam Booth put forward new terms to promoter Frank Warren this morning and insists the purse involved is substantially more than the one received from DeGale's camp yesterday.
    Booth said: "I can assure everybody that we are determined to make this fight become a reality and are doing everything in our power to bring George Groves and James Degale together before the end of 2010.
    "We have made an offer for James to challenge George for his title in December on a Hayemaker Boxing show.
    "Frank Warren wanted us to put our money where our mouth is and that is exactly what we have done.
    "We have come to the table with a far more substantial offer than the one Frank Warren made to us on Monday afternoon.
    "We have noted Frank's urgency to have the fight agreed within 48 hours and therefore expect James and Frank to step up and accept our incredibly generous offer."

    My take is Warrens offer must have been damn good. If it wasn't, they would have rejected it and made what was on the table public.
    I guess we await Franks response but I think its extremely doubtful that its going to happen. I'm not going to say "no way" just yet as I am cursed with being an eternal optimist.

    you never know who to believe. Frank warren has been a **** who chats **** in the past. But you wouldnt believe another word that comes out of hayemakers mouths anymore would you as they are also cocks who talk ****.

    My prediction is.....wont happen

    But it was also probably full of things like options, promotional rights, and such. I don't think there would be any benefit holding the fight now when Warren could match Degale with Paul Smith first. He makes more money, Smith's got a decent name still to add to James' tally, and it makes the fight between Groves and Chunky more interesting.

    In the meantime, Groves can fight some other guys and get him name out there in the press and on the undercard of Haye's fights. Come late 2011/early 2012 it's worth more and might even be the step before world title shots in 2013.

    He wont put him with Smith because that way one of his guys would lose. He'll make Smith vacate.
