According to an article on setanta, Haye has actually signed a 4 fight deal with Setanta Sports, in addition to a 6 fight exclusive contract with "Hayemaker Productions". I take it this means Haye has set up his own promotional outfit and will be promoting domestic british fighters? Anyone know anything about this? http://www.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Other-sports/2008/05/27/Boxing-Haye-signs-four-fight-deal/?facets/boxing/ " Setanta Sports has again underlined its commitment to boxing by signing an exclusive broadcast deal with Hayemaker Productions to screen David Hayes next four fights exclusively live in the UK and Ireland. This new deal, plus the contract in place with Frank Warrens Sports Network until December 2010, including the Kelly Pavlik-Gary Lockett bout on June 7 and Joe Calzaghes next fight, plus the recent Top Rank announcement, really does secure Setantas place as the home of boxing in the UK. During the terms of the four-fight deal, which runs from September 1, 2008 to December 31, 2009, Setanta Sports subscribers will be able to see Haye step up to fight in the heavyweight division - his first bout since his world cruiserweight unification title win against Enzo Maccarinelli in the Battle of Britain in March. The deal will potentially see the explosive Londoner take on Wladimir Klitschko for the IBF/WBO heavyweight titles in 2009. The next four David Haye fights, which will be exclusively live to Setanta Sports subscribers as part of their Setanta Sports package, will include:
David Haye against a top 10 ranked heavyweight opponent later in 2008
David Haye against a top 10 ranked heavyweight opponent in early 2009
A world title bout against a reigning Heavyweight World Champion (most likely against Wladimir Klitschko) in the middle of 2009 A title defence if Haye wins the world title later in 2009 The current package with Hayemaker Productions also includes the rights for exclusive coverage of six Hayemaker Boxing shows, featuring at least one British title fight or better during each show. David Haye said: Im buzzing about signing this deal with Setanta it means millions of people in the UK will be able to witness the four most important fights of my boxing career. I believe heavyweight is my natural weight and I look forward to taking this division by storm before becoming world heavyweight champion in next year. Tune in to Setanta to see the Hayemaker in action! Setantas boxing presenter, Paul Dempsey commented: Setanta has invested in David Haye because we think hes one of the most exciting boxers around and hell electrify the heavyweight division like no one else on the planet. Setanta viewers witnessed his thrilling victories over Mormeck and Maccarinelli in the past year, and we really hope that this deal will bring our subscribers the opportunity to see Haye go all the way to becoming a British heavyweight champion of the world.
Was jsut about to post this. Watched the press conference and Haye and Adam Booth have set up 'Hayemaker Promotions' in association with 'Golden Boy Promotions.' As you say, next 4 fights live on Setanta with the next one taking place at the O2 arena. Hayemaker Promotions have also signed a couple of young amateurs as well as SPICE BOY-RYAN RHODES!!!
Sounds to me like Goldenboy are being smart, getting Haye to be there European arm rather than The Hattons
Yeah rooq it does seem Haye is starting his own promotion. Was watching the press conference on setanta and Adam Booth said they are forming a allience with Golden Boy. Schaefer was at the press conference but setanta stopped showed the press conference just before he was about to speak. There were also a few fighters at the press conference I think one was Ryan Rhodes and I think there was a few amatuer fighters there as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I heard his next 4 fights will all take place at the o2 arena?
Poor fwank, so many big british names a re bypassing him. All he is left with is Khan and JC. No doubt JC will retire after a few fights and Khan will be on his bike and promoting himself. Notice how he offered a fight with Skelton and not the A-Force. I think Audley must have phoned him and said he could not fight Haye in the next year as he had finger ache and pulled a muscle in his rectum.
Before we celebrate the demise of Frank Warren, it looks to me that these fights that Hayemaker Production is putting together (not the fights Haye is in) for Setanta will be (on average) below the standard that Warren will be providing. Looks like the only concrete thing they have lined up is a British title defence by Ryan Rhodes. I know everyone has to start somewhere but its a little early to start dancing on Warrens grave.
He will have no major names left. I guess he can head off to Beijing in the summer and see if he can sign up the likes of Frankie Gavin (if he does well which is not a certainty as the Cubans will be back).
The Fight Academy chap ? Hatton had come sort of link with him for a while (I think) and he had Woods. Now he has no big names (just like what will happen to Frank).
